totally agree loved them till the man who... they have just became a smug parody of themselves, no country had its moments but true grit remake might as well had a flashing sign on the film reading "LOOK.,LOOK HOW QUIRKY WE ARE!"

Quite refreshing to see people having a pop at Tarantino films always found him vastly overrated and have had to fight my ground over many a year. Resevoir dogs was ok, pulp fiction has its moments , never seen Jackie Brown, kill bill part one was good fun despite them pussying out by making final fight in black and white. kill bill 2 on the other hand was a dull self indulgent mess. deathproof was shite, planet terror far superior, basterds was disappointing i was hoping for some type of dirty dozen caper promised by early posters but it felt like a slightly violent allo allo. I surprisingly enjoyed both django and hateful 8. i enjoyed natural born killers,from dusk till dawn and true romance all based on his scripts altho romance and nbk seem to be riffs on Lynch's far better wild at heart. tarantino does though have a hell of an ear for music and i've often preferred his soundtrack albums over his films. And fair game to the fella he usually ends up playing rapists who meet sticky ends.

I think The Coens' films have been getting progressively worse over the years. Anything post The Man Who Wasn't There I can take or leave. I've yet to see Inside Llewyn Davis and Hail Caesar! but my expectations are set pretty low.

Both are excellent, but very different types of film.

As for films made after The Man Who Wasn't There (an excellent film noir), didn't you like No Country for Men, A Serious Man or True Grit?

I'm pretty sure that was to satisfy British and American classification boards. I have the uncut Japanese DVD which has the House of Blue Leaves scene all in glorious Technicolor. The Japanese one is also much longer as the animated sequence is uncut, as is the House of Blue Leaves section of the film (no eyeball swallowing or second amputation in the international version).

Not really, no. No Country and A Serious Man were average and I found True Grit to be pretty bad to be honest.

In descending order, I think all three are really good, especially No Country for Old Men, which is a great modern day Western.

Have to be honest i found No Country to be rather average. Javier Bardem is easily the best thing about it.
