No, you're totally right Dis, Part 2 is a better film, in fact my favourite Friday is The Final Chapter...

In all honesty most of my picks of favourite sequels are for comparatively minor fare barring the odd exception so chalk me up for films like Friday The 13th Part IV, American Ninja II, Superman II, The Dark Knight Rises to name some of the very few I can think of. Most of the sequels that people usually consider to be better than the original I tend to consider equal i.e. Alien and Aliens for instance.

In fact call me contrarian if you wish but by a gnat's wing I prefer The Terminator to Terminator 2.

Is Judgement Day reckoned to be better than the original film ? I had no idea. The first film is so thrilling, violent and edgy, for me it's always been far superior. There's nothing in the second film to beat the police station massacre...

The original Terminator is in a different class to T2 as far as I'm concerned.

Although I really like T2 it doesn't have the rewatch value like the first film for me.

I've see The Terminator countless times over the years but as for T2 maybe 12 times I've watched it all the way through.

The Terminator is frigging awesome, but for me T2 just about tops it with the special fx for the T1000, groundbreaking for it's time and amazing on the big screen (still proud of the fact I managed to sneak into a 15 film at aged 12, especially when my older, taller mate didn't get in and had to watch Robin Hood:POT instead )

I remember well seeing it at the Capital Cinema here in Cork on opening weekend, and the crowed jumping with fright when the cyborg crushes the skull under it's foot in the opening scene. There are still people to this day trapped in the ceiling after that gag...

Whatever about the original versus Judgement Day, parts 3 and 4 were absolutely awful. Part 4 didn't have an original bone in its body - I felt Alien Vs Predator was a more worthy sequel within the Alien series than Salvation was within the Terminator series...

Some great films here and I enjoy them all really but I do prefer alien to aliens and the original terminator is far superior to the sequel imo.

Maybe it's because I think of aliens and t2 as shoot em up action films with the original films in both franchises being a lot darker and edgier. I prefer edgier stuff but there's nothing wrong with some action sometimes.
