It's a film I like, but always watch with a slight grimace because I know it was filmed in apartheid South Africa, and the portrayal of black Africans is questionable to say the least.

i guess its on the same level, but there are a few films that are not kubrick good that i love and would have to take on a desert island.

Also there are some films that you love regardless, in hindsight you may think Exorcist is your favourite film, but what films will you put on when you just want to chill out.

Something along the lines of Desert Island Discs, only with films? Choose 10 (it's eight on the programme) and select the one you regard most highly.

I always find the idea of Desert Island discs amusing. What am i going to play my discs on? If i have electricity then i sure wouldn't need my discs for long as i'd be well away in a short time.

Desert Island books! Well that's a different matter entirely.

I have some of those in my all-time favourite films list, with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, City Lights, and Duck Soup usually making the cut.

Something like that, i love so many films, but a lot of the time it's the stupid ones i go back to. regardless of taste, i just think sod schindlers list, i'll put spider baby on.

Wasn't it originally a windup gramophone with actual vinyl records which the 'castaway' would have on the island?
