Top 10 films featuring Unearthing Things.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Mackenna's Gold (1969)*
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948)
The Mummy (1932)
The Mummy (1959)
Stargate (1994)
National Treasure (2004)
Fool's Gold (2008)
The Church (1989)
Les aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec (2010)

*

I was tempted to go with The Exorcist as the opening scenes at the dig are my favourite of the movie. - So atmospheric. However as the sequence is relatively short and the film isn't really about the unearthing i decided to leave it out in favour of films where this weeks subject features more prominently.

So, 10 films with zombies as a tribute to Mr. Romero?

  • The Awakening (1980)
  • Bringing Up Baby
  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
  • The Exorcist
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  • Jurassic Park
  • The Mummy (1932)
  • The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
  • The Thing (1982)
  • The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Close, but no cigar to these five:
Les aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Mummy (1959)
Psycho – only removed because you don't see anything, notably Mother, being unearthed
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre – as above

The Awakening is a film i can't get excited by. I used to have it on vhs and still have the dvd but, i don't know, i find it dull.
