Nitrateville

The Classic Horror Film Board

"The original 1927 version of the film was long considered a lost film.

The film has been found and will be showing at the 2024 San Francisco Silent Film Festival"
Cause for celebration. Seems a little suspect it suddenly turning up when it was made in 1927? I wonder if more silents will suddenly turn up when the copyright runs out?

Love that poster. If they ever release it I hope they use that artwork.

Surely not. I'd definitely prefer some work experience kid whose first attempt at creating any sort of art is an Arrow blu-ray cover to do it.

?Lost? Top Of The Pops ABBA footage to be shown on BBC for 1st time in 50 years ahead of Eurovision victory anniversary / The Sun

"ABBA will soon celebrate 50 years since the night they won Eurovision on April 6, 1974.

And ahead of this year?s contest, in the Swedish super-group?s homeland in May, BBC Two will join in the Take A Chance On Me stars? celebration of that Eurovision win, in Brighton, with a series of special shows paying homage.

More Abba At The BBC will feature one particularly nostalgic moment, after the Beeb was handed a video it believed was lost in its archives a tape of the band?s 1974 performance on Top Of The Pops.

The recording, which shows them belting out 1974 hit So Long, was thought to have been lost but will now be shown in full for the first time in five decades..."

100 years later, long-lost Clara Bow silent film found in parking lot / wdbj

"It?s a movie that hasn?t been seen in decades, missing for so long that many didn?t even know it existed.

That is, until it turned up in Omaha, Nebraska.

While the internet seems to know everything, this movie called ?The Pill Pounder? was nowhere to be found when [finder Gary] Huggins went looking for more information on what he had playing on the projector inside his home.

?Usually, when you look up a film online, somebody has something to say about it,? he said.

At the time, he also didn?t know he had just found the only known copy of the film."

This is exciting

Tim Beddows' Film Collection / Film Is Fabulous
"The Film is Fabulous! team have been working closely with the estate of the late Tim Beddows, the founder, and former Managing Director of Network Distributing. Tim?s private film collection was amassed over thirty years and has taken months to sort through.

The private collection is home to the sole surviving prints of many vintage television episodes, including items that are missing from the archives. Several have not been seen since their original broadcast. Among the missing items are complete episodes from ATV (ITC Entertainment), Associated-Rediffusion, the BBC, Granada, Southern, Thames, and Tyne Tees Television.

Tim Beddows? private collection is a veritable treasure trove, reflecting his passion for film and vintage television. The estate has generously permitted the first case study of the new pilot scheme, initiated by Film is Fabulous! and De Montfort University, to be based on a selection of Tim?s films. Further information on the pilot study will be released shortly."
