It could well be my most anticipated release of next year as well – I hope it has the AV treatment and extra features it deserves.

Although I guess the exclusive interview with Polanski will be in French, I've preordered a copy if only for the film in HD and the packaging.

It just seems like a gimmick to make people pay more for a film just because of some (usually very bland and underwhelming) visual tinkering. It doesn't enhance the feel of the film, and often makes it worse with how ropey some of these 'amazing' 3D effects actually look. It is yet another way for companies to take as much money from the dumb, ignorant, technology hungry general public as possible.

Plus, it's all well and good doing it to your Hollywood blockbu$ter$ and Pixar films, but why **** about with the classics? Like you say, the majority of die hard fans will cry heresy, and the modern crowd won't be used to seeing a film that isn't torture porn, shaky cam, or full of pointless jump scares.
It's died a death twice before and will do again. People are getting bored of it.

I actually don't see people getting bored with it at all (well, unless your name's Mark Kermode). The only really negative thing I've seen, is The Great Gatsby's disasterous 3D release, but honestly, wtf ever possessed them to release a film like that in 3D? It should only be used for stuff like Pacific Rim.

I remember when Clash Of The Titans post converted 3D came out, holy shit what an eyesore.

I heard from friends the 3D was fantastic for Gatsby thought, really brought out the fantastic cg work for backgrounds.

A lot of statistics show people preferring the 2D release over the 3D one. Iron man 3 a recent example of this I think.

3D for new films doesn't bother me, but adding 3D to Dawn of the Dead is like adding tattoos and piercings to the Mona Lisa!
