I like the dirty kid in Demonia ("You've got a secret stash of dirt?") and the campfire get-together... :)

Just watched Saw V and Saw VI since I'm off watching Saw VII 3D tonight.
Still interesting and decent "extreme thrillers" imo. ;)

DeadAlive 30th October 2010 12:08 PM

Friday The 13th Part 2
The Goonies
Trick 'r Treat

No prises for guessing which one was watched with my 11 year old daughter.:p

mercury 30th October 2010 02:53 PM

Watched Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 last night and wow. I don't think I have ever loved a film and hated it at the same time before. I liked the killing scenes and think most were done very well. But the constant visions or ghosts that michael sees, just spoils what could have been a great slasher. I also disliked how Dr Loomis was portrayed in this film, and feel that his charachter was of no great importance and could have been left out! I too agree with what Sarah posted a few days ago. No theme music until the end was a major mistake.

pedromonkey 31st October 2010 04:49 PM

just watched the British Zombie/infection film DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND and i have to say it's one of the best low buget films ive seen in a long time, brilliantly directed and well written with some top notch gore and a Craig Fairbrass off of Eastenders and Danny '****ing' Dyer, highly recommend this as it's a great watch....

wongfeihung62 31st October 2010 04:55 PM

Watched Machete last night. Highly enjoyable, with the "Chief" on form as usual.

loved it, one of my fave films of the year....

re.form 31st October 2010 07:15 PM

Jonah Hex - which I found surprisingly fun.

Coraline - which was brilliant.

Pete 31st October 2010 09:05 PM

Cut Throats Nine - Average western with a fair bit of gore.

Sam 31st October 2010 09:52 PM

Nightmare on Elm Street (remake) - another dull and uninspired remake

Big Bad Wolf - An unexpected treat! Packed with gore and cheap laughs. Fairly disposable but there are a lot worse ways to spend an hour and a half (see above!)

snapon 1st November 2010 05:02 AM

watched the exorcist on blu-ray last night, wow great so good you can see the wires in the Levitation scene ,for me still the best horror seen it on vhs dvd now blu-ray, too young to have seen at the cinema 73/74 i believe all the stories at the time of when it was shown on the big screen.10/10.

DeadAlive 1st November 2010 07:42 AM

Some Halloween viewing:

Halloween 2 (1981)
Halloween 3:Season Of The Witch
Halloween 2 (2009)

Plus some HK stuf:

The Storm Warriors
Vampire Vs Vampire

mercury 1st November 2010 11:36 AM

Recently seen:
Krull
Horsemen of the Apocalypes
Triangle. This film is great. Isn't that scary, but is quite intense and keeps your mind working throughout, and afterwards! Melissa George was great and is fast becoming one of my favourite scream queens:nod:

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 1st November 2010 11:40 AM

Watched Zombi 3 and Trick 'r Treat over the weekend - which concluded my Halloween film viewing.

I also watched the first 5 Simpson's Treehouse of Horror Halloween specials on Sunday before getting costumed up and hitting the town for a party.

mjarbar 1st November 2010 12:46 PM

Finally got The Horde and Hellraiser

The Horde is every bit as good as what people on here have said it is, well worth watching, 28 days later meets Die Hard is a pretty accurate description. Just didn't realise it was a french film, not that it detracts from it in any way!

Hellraiser was as good as I remember it to be, I just thought the cenobites was in it more, funny how you focus on one thing in a film when you see it the first time and then don't watch it for a long while after.

Watched this last night. I thought it was fun, but a bit average. As a lover of most zombie films (I even like Children of the Living Dead) I was a bit 'meh' about it. The best thing was Sean Pertwee's tache'.

Also recently watched "The Last Horror Movie" which I thought was a brilliant no-budget 'camcorder' film. It gets a bit preachy but its really well done.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 1st November 2010 06:15 PM

I watched DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW over the weekend.
Cracking transfer from VCI!

Even though this was made for TV,it's a little gem of a movie, and deserves a place in everyone's collection.

RedEyeTheCylon 1st November 2010 06:39 PM

How to Make a Monster (1958 version) - Much better than I was expecting, definately one of the best of the decade!

Invasion Earth: The Aliens are Here - Brilliant film, pick it up if you come across it in your local Poundland!

mbv 2nd November 2010 04:58 PM

Rob Zombies Halloween 2

If it weren't for the dead mom, horse and ghost of young michael myers this would be a really good horror. Much better than his first effort but a lot of the movie is ridiculous. Top marks for gore though

Pertwee's tash was epic, i just really liked how it was done and it looked pretty cool.

Watched another Brit horror last night, the werewolf/posh kids mash up 13 HRS
and while not having any characters to actually give a damn about, it served up some pretty decent gore for a 15, defo worth a rental..

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 2nd November 2010 06:37 PM

Watched the BU Blu of Maniac last night, plus have just finished watching Code Red's DVD of Pets: Shame about the quality of materials available from the film rights owner, but a decent exploitationer nonetheless.

Argentofan 2nd November 2010 07:43 PM

Straw Dogs.

bdc 2nd November 2010 07:57 PM

I was looking for a "no-brainer" to watch last night and stumbled upon Open Water.
Not bad at all.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 2nd November 2010 10:20 PM

Today I've seen: Burke & Hare at the cinema which is pretty good but far from vintage John Landis and Vanilla Sky, the original Bad Lieutenant and Southern Comfort on DVD -- the latter two were better than the first.

Argentofan 2nd November 2010 10:27 PM

Just watched Jackass 3D. It was really good, but there weren't that many memorable stunts/pranks.

DeadAlive 3rd November 2010 08:28 AM

Some more films watched while I've been laid up with septic toncilitis. :(

Magic Cop.
New York Ripper.
Tenebre.
Kenny.
District 13: Ultimatum.
Fast & Furious.
The Brood.
Dracula - Prince Of Darkness.

pedromonkey 3rd November 2010 10:58 AM

Watched The Final last night and it was a hell of a lot better than i had expected it to be, for some reason was reminded of Audition.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 3rd November 2010 11:54 AM

There was that sequence obviously referencing Audition with the acupuncture needles -- was that why it's reminded you of the film?

James Morton 3rd November 2010 03:02 PM

What films have you seen recently?

GIALLO

not as good as SLEEPLESS but better than TRAUMA and THE CARD PLAYER
expecting more violence but not to be
i still enjoyed the film
overall Argento should of done better with the gore and storyline
whether it has the US influence with the writers etc i don't know
but i will say disappointing
i don't care really because Argento has made great films in the past
the film isn't really a giallo in that sense
oh well............
stick to italian writers and producers Dario!

yes Nos, that's exactly why it reminded me of Audition, it was kind of torture porn but not at the same time because the kids had a motive for it. Great acting from the one who played Dane.

nekromantik 3rd November 2010 04:46 PM

saw dream home last nite.
Overall I got bored cause of the backstory. It had some good scenes and deaths but wasnt enough IMO to keep me interested in it.

gag 3rd November 2010 04:46 PM

i thought the final was a massive let down didnt do anything for me apart from bore me a bit to be honest...

Argentofan 3rd November 2010 06:42 PM

House On Haunted Hill - Really enjoyed it. I didn't think I was going to like it but I really did. :D

1959 version btw.

Pete 3rd November 2010 09:15 PM

Killer Crocodile 2 - Dreadful!

Its a zombie film about a guy called Ace who loves the band guitar wolf (it Japanese and I believe their quite big over there). People turn into zombies and Ace along with Guitar Wolf (who turn out to be sort of super hero's) fight them off. It's full of all the sort of quirks you'd expect in a Japanese horror comedy its voilent, funny and often quite weird.

Guitar Wolf also star in the uber trashy and pretty crappy "The Sore Losers". The film stars David F. Freidman and Jack Oblivian from the band Oblivians. I wouldn't bother with the film but recommend going for the soundtrack instead, as it's a fine and dandy collection of garage punk.

Recently watched the Worzel Gummidge Christmas Special "A Cup o' Tea an' A Slice o' Cake". It contains a really weird ritual scene involving the Crowman that plays like a Satanic version of the final scenes of "The Wicker Man"!! I shit you not. However instead of human sacrifice, it ends with a song and dance number about tea and cakes.

nekromantik 4th November 2010 12:48 AM

Just seen Chatoom. The Hideo Nakata english langauge flick made in the UK.

Its not really horror, I quite enjoyed it. Was suprised at how much I enjoyed it.
There are bad points about the movie yes but overall it was very enjoyable and you actully care about the charcters and get into them.

Recommend it to everyone here.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 4th November 2010 07:29 AM

Watched the often overlooked Hammer production Paranoiac last night, which has garnered new acclaim due to Eureka's recent DVD and Blu-ray releases. Watching this in HD, the transfer was fantastic. Superb performances and a gripping story makes this an essential for any Hammer fan, or anyone in the mood for a tense, moody thriller.

mercury 4th November 2010 10:12 AM

Watched Inferno on Bluray last night. I must say that this is a film that has lived up to the hype! It was better than I could have imagined. The music is great and I really liked the underwater scene. this fillm has so many good points that I don't have time to mention them all. So instead I will list my only dissapointments: The ending. I found this to be quite short, if you take the ending to start when the Mother is revealed. But the firey ending is very appropriate. I take it that the mother dies?

Any way I will now have to get a hold of the other mothers dvd's as I have yet to see them. But as I have no expectations I feel that I will be very satisfied with them both.

Ashy 4th November 2010 10:30 AM

Watched the documentary American Grindhouse yesterday, had no idea Calum was involved till the credits rolled, enjoyed it.
