I really liked The Children as it was nasty in all the right ways, made perfect sense, was well written and directed and had a terrific ending. It's a great Christmas movie!

The Children was a very well made movie I thought. Just the right balance of gore, violence and tension.

I am not sure we will see it on Christmas Day after the Queen's speech though!

Watched ...

Hot Tub Time Machine

... yesterday!

It was almost as funny as the England performances at the World Cup!

If you are a person of a 'certain age' and grew up in the 80s, there is more than enough pop culture to have you grinning all the way through it. Even if you don't get all the 80s puns, there are still plenty of jokes to keep you smiling all the way to the end. If you liked The Hangover, you will like this too!

:pop2:

After waiting for England's well deserved exit from the World Cup .. I have now had time to get back to watching movies!!! Yeeehaaah!

Last night I watched:

Four Flies On Grey Velvet

Firstly the movie; Although not one of Argento's best or even most graphic, FFOGV is indeed a must see and own. From the outset, there are numerous sparks of genius, indicating what was to come from the master of Giallo.

Secondly the DVD: MYA have done a great job of at least getting this elusive title to DVD! The print is fine in it's anamorphic 2.35:1 - it's colourful and sharp .. no complaints here really. The sound is acceptable - some of the English dubbing is a little hard to hear at times - often muffled. The actress who dubbed Roberto's wife's voice is horrid!!! With a bit of money spent on remastering the movie, it could be a great release. The extras consist of mainly trailers etc.

Not a bad effort from MYA .. highly recommended.

Watched Dawn of the Mummy again on TV last night. I have a real soft spot for this movie even though it has many flaws!!
Some nice gore and the scene when the zombies are rising from the desert with the sun behind them is a sight to behold but the acting in this is the biggest problem(but somehow adds to the entertainment!!). The guy playing the blonde american who runs the show is the worst actor ever although there are some shams that play his 'local' assistants that give him a real run for his money.
Ridiculous, hammy but loads of fun!!

My 3 worded reviews

At the weekend I watched:

The Straight Story - Charming, touching, great!

The Pusher Trilogy - Nasty, enthralling, entertaining! (Rare experience where each sequel is better than the last)

Fear X - Tense, creepy, brilliant!

Bronson - Brutal, funny, awesome!

Can you guess the pattern there?..... (other than the first)

Straight after the England match me and my flatmates watched
'2019 - After the Fall of New York' to cheer us up. What an astounding film, loved it :)

Also watched 'Vampiros Lesbos' for the first time which was great, very stylish fully appreciated it's artistic values too.. haha..

We started watching 'The Human Centipede' but I fell asleep. To be honest, having seen the trailer I sort of felt like I had already seen the film.
