Noe should just serve as a 'head smash consultant' for movies when he's not directing.
Kidnapped was fantastic, and definately featured the best head smashing since irriverible, one of my films of the year.

I was also impressed by Del Toro's bottle face smashing in Pan's Labyrinth - another one for this rapidly increasing hall of fame . . .

... talking of Drive, I had that bloody 'real hero and a human being' song stuck in my head all day yesterday

Getting through a bunch of stuff now I'm off work, catching up on some 2011 films I missed. Already seen two that will definitely make my top 10 of the year, but I'll wait till list time to blab about em . . .

The Crow. An interesting graphic novel adaption. There are few seconds that give away the movie's age - it still looks pretty fresh and (maybe too?) modern. I'm no fan of fast cuts, and videoclip-like movies, but I enjoyed the movie nevertheless. Why? Because Brandon Lee's performance is excellent! Very charismatic, especially in the film's quiet scenes - a fine actor indeed, sadly missed. The movie has a very pessimistic and dark atmosphere, but some one-liners will make you grin. Ernie Hudson's great, too!

I've posted a few Blu-ray stills in the respective thread.

Greetings!

I just watched Rare Exports. What a wonderful film. I can see it becoming a Christmas staple for me. Just brilliant.

As I always do on this date, I watched It's a Wonderful Life. It's a brilliant film and the ending only works because the bulk of the film is so dark.

Haha good one! I've actually got that lined up for tomorrow night!

I've just watched Don't Answer The Phone.

I had high hopes for this film. Was really looking forward to seeing it. Heard good things about it. Heard it was "one sick movie".

What an utter pile of shite. I want the last hour and a half of my life back.
Now, I'll admit the killer was one of the more deranged individuals I've seen, but otherwise, the film did absolutely nothing for me. It was like a sleazier Columbo.

I've never fast-forwaded through a movie before, but tonight was different. Complete rubbish. And I've never said that about any horror film before.

That's pretty much exactly why I liked it!

I just watched René Cardona Jr's Beaks/Birds Of Prey which is one of those films with is both inept and incapable of holding your attention, yet you feel oddly affectionate towards it.

It's complete rubbish in every way, pigeons are inherently not scary and the treatment of the birds during the film-making is often quite shocking, and yet, it's utter ridiculousness is adorable.

Total crap. But I've seen worse!
