I think Lugosi could well have been his inspiration, certainly what I thought watching it

Odd double feature tonight -

Dark Of The Sun - Brilliant and surprisingly brutal 60's men on a mission tale; high body count, pervasive grim tone and sweeping score all make a damn fine overlooked gem.

Emanuelle In America - First time I've seen one of the lovely Laura Gemser's seemingly innumerable erotic odysseys. Super cheesy and ultra sleazy erotica that is most definetly not for everyone especially when the third act rolls around. Gemser makes it a bunch of fun for the most part.

Django Unchained

Truly fantastic movie. Saw this today with a ladyfriend, who was a particular fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. Some of the blood was a bit too OTT, but the 2nd last shoot out, the one after the signing was worth the admission alone.

2 scenes in particular were extremely unpleasant, the Mandingo fight and the dog scene, which was absolutely horrible.

But the other 2 scenes, Tarantinos cameo and the KKK scene, we're actually quite enjoyable to me.
We both had a good laugh at the bag scene, as bad as it was, and I enjoyed the fact that the Battle Royale theme showed up.
And the Tarantino cameo with the accent was a bit cringe worthy for about the first 2 lines, then I actually found it a tad realistic, and the other 2 pulled it off perfectly. Also good fun watching Tarantino explode.

Some enjoyable cameos too, with Franco Nero and Tom Savini.

Over all good fun, and I hope too see the 5 hour cut some time.

Oh and Leonardo should have at least gotten a nomination from the Academy

Haven't seen This yet but want to one paper gave it 9 and half out of ten said only thing that ruined it was some rubbish actor with a dodgy accent but can't complain considering it is his film.. A 5hr cut wow now that's long.
I do like some long films a lot better than you average hr and half films..
Feel that some films that are that short could have benefited better being longer Id have thought dress would have been more of 2hr mark than hr and half.
Watched dredd again last night with a friend because he hadn't seen it and half way through he said turn it off I've had enough I said why he replied it's rubbish and boring I much prefer the one with Stallone .
Must admit I thought it was over hyped and did expect a bit better the slow motion sequences irritated me found them irrelevant and pointless to the film.

I still haven't managed to get all the way through it yet after 3 attempts!

Oh I knew I'd forgotten something in my Django review.

The "n" word

Personally, I barely noticed it after 2 or 3 times, and I don't think there was enough the cause a stir, especially in a period piece about slavery.

I mean sure, it's a white director, but I don't know, it felt right at home in this movie.

But then again, maybe because I watch The Boondocks, in which every 2nd or 3rd word out of a characters mouth is "nigger", I just didn't notice because it felt as though there was nothing wrong with it

I watched 45 minutes of The Woman In Black last night before I had to turn it off, started off quite interesting but quickly descended into nonsense - Harry Potter hears a noise and goes to investigate finding nothing (repeat as desired). In the time being children are killing themselves... Harry Potter is blamed... Yawn... switch off...

Thank god it was on Netflix and I didn't buy the blu-ray!
