I have an Invelos account too (I think it's something like $30 for a lifetime membership - so a real bargain). The only problem I have with it is that the online display is so shitty and outdated. :ack: The actual database is pretty damn good though.
There is a way of exporting your data to .xml from Invelos into another free program called php profiler, but again the online isn't fantastic. I don't think you have to pay for that one though.

The only other one I know of is Collectorz - but you have to pay for that too I think...

Have you tried signing up to dvdaf under a new account; or even using a different browser. I ditched IE about a year ago as it was playing up on certain sites (this one included) and now use Firefox instead - it's better and a hell of a lot quicker. :thumb:

pedromonkey 1st April 2010 10:44 PM

im actually using firefox as IE is cack. i might just set up a small website and host it on there instead.

Nice idea: at least then you can have some input into what it looks like.

bdc 2nd April 2010 08:17 AM

Weird that you are having a problem with dvdaf, but the site sometimes acts strange (when they are updating I guess).
Maybe try again later?
I use it all the time and it's very easy and quick to import.
No UPC codes needed.
Just search by label and start adding, that will take care of your collection in no time.

I do have to update the database with more European dvd's soon,so if someone is missing a few just let me know and I'll try to add them too.
I'll be adding more hardboxes as well I think.
For hardboxes with several covers they have a new policy that only allows for 1 listing per dvd (if the UPC/content is the same) but you can choose other covers to display when they're in your collection.

Ha! Lightweight - I've over twice as many! Hardly regret a single purchase as the worst titles were presents, prizes or review discs.

I like Invelos for cataloguing but, as has been said, the online database leaves a lot to be desired and makes browsing through other's collections a real pain.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 3rd April 2010 09:21 PM

Did anyone used to use a website called DVDSpot - I think it was called that? It's a real shame that they shut the site down as it was the best cataloging dvd website out there imo, it had everything you would need/want.

god damn you Nosferatu, seriously though i would have more if i didn't smoke, plus it's difficult to find room now...

Speaking of running out of room, that's just what happened to me in the first quarter of the year.

I had a pile of 'to add' DVDs stacked in my study without a home. Being the Easter long weekend and time up my sleeve, I determined that I could fit another shelf on each of my DVD racks, enabling me to fit another 160 discs in.. so that is exactly what I did! Armed with ruler, pencil, allen key and power drill I upgraded my library to what you see below.

1279 DVD and Blu-rays, as per my list: http://sutekh.mine.nu/dvd/
Around 50 VHS.

I see that you have the Limited Edition House Of The Devil VHS. That's a good buy if ever I saw one.
And don't those Arrow and Shameless releases just jump out at you on the shelf?

They certainly do! I would like to collect them all but some of the newer releases like Stendhal Syndrome I already have on bluray! I really want the Bronx Warriors tin but I will have to wait until it hits amazon.co.uk.

Hahaha! Yes, my wife's dad is a doctor, apparently he brought home all kinds of strange medical use things over the years!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 4th April 2010 01:19 PM

I wish I had the room to display all my BDs and DVDs like that but I have them all stored in my room in big DJ cases. Functional but not as aestetically pleasing!

pedromonkey 4th April 2010 05:36 PM

Thanks :D I've never seen anything quite like those shelves. They are technically CD racks, and I used them as those for a while fitting 800 CDs per rack (I have a lot of CDs too!), but I removed every second shelf which and made them into DVD racks which lasted me until this weekend when I drilled in the 5th shelves ;)

I remember buying them as run-out models from Myers in beaten up boxes at 50% off - about $80 per rack, a total bargain - and the shop assistants even called around the other stores to find me one more. In hindsight I wish I ordered ten

mahoney 5th April 2010 04:23 PM

I need some help, my collection has got out of control for my small room. I'm looking for some sort of folder/storage that will hold the discs + the covers. I've looked everywhere & can't find anything that fits my needs, this sort of thing for cd's is so common but dvd I've had a hard time finding. any links guys?

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 5th April 2010 05:34 PM

DeadandWalkingDotCom 8th April 2010 05:40 PM

It's a shame for one of my posters :( I owned a large Zombi 2 Poster which got a bit creased whilst decorating. Hopefully when I iron it out it should be fine. Just gotta get another frame first. Oh and thank GOD it wasn't an original, although if it was I would have taken immense care of it.

Anywho, this is my stuff:

Very cool. Do you actually watch them or just keep them stashed away in good condition?

bdc 12th April 2010 08:16 PM

Thanks! ;)
I watch everything I own and try to keep them in good condition as well.
Would find it weird to just stash them away...

Hi all,
I signed up ages ago and then haven't really added anything to the forum...I seem to go in phases where by I buy loads then lose interest abit, then come back etc etc..thought I would add my collection..some stuff I've missed out (hammer box set, some of those cult movie thingys with about 8 films on 4 discs etc)..theres alot I haven't watched, but have watched all of the Shameless discs, bar Venus in furs..just lack of time really...

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 26th April 2010 11:28 PM

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th May 2010 12:35 PM

With the right time and investment, everyone's collection could be as good as mine!

bdc 6th May 2010 12:53 PM

Very nice Minky!

Very nice and tidy Nosferatu!
My Shameless dvd's are all over the place! :)

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th May 2010 01:00 PM

Those are the only three that I actually have on display at the moment. All others are filed away in DJ cases. I'll probably file away the Roger Corman ones as well but want to keep the Shameless and Arrow Video ones on the shelves as long as I have enough room!
