See, Fargo is one of my favourites by them along with Burn After Reading!

I definitely think the Coens aren't bullet-proof, unlike what many say about them. I remember Empire and Total Film were devastated that The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty were 3 star movies. I thought Intolerable Cruelty was pretty good and Catherine Zeta-Jones was luminous in that film...

Ok i'm probably on the edge of a sh*tstorm here but what the hell. I can appreciate that they're well directed but the 'Godfather' film's really bore me, and i also can't be bothered with most Gangster films except the 'Untouchables' for some reason. Maybe i'm betraying my male brothers but screw it, i also think Rocky films are sh*te!.

Oh and if you're talking about 'Hollywood' stars i absolutely despise Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks( i didn't mind Splash and Risky business at the time) now they are older they just churn out the same old safe boring predictable b*llocks. Look at me i'm Tom Hanks and i'm cuddly and loveable and nice and middle American and Oscar worthy and don't cha just wanna smash my face in. Yep, i do and don't even talk to me about "Polar express'!. Rant over. (or has it only just begun?) |

And just to be even more controversial( i've just been down the pub by the way.) I like the 'Exorcist' but i don't think it's the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be. 'Texas Chainsaw' (original) is far superior in my opinion, 'Exorcist' is good but the green puke and head turning ruin it for me. |

Gangster films like anything else are hit and miss but I didn't think anyone could dislike White Heat, Goodfellas or Carlito's Way. Having said that, I've never been fond of De Palma's Scarface the way other people fall over it... The Exorcist is my second favorite Horror film, it absolutely works on every level. I was thinking about this the other day and I reckon it's still the most notorious film ever made - I mean even my parents have an opinion about this film (Mom: I'd be afraid to have that in the house!). Child's Play... I saw it once when it came out, and it was okay....is this considered a classic nowadays ?

The great thing with films, music and books is there is no wrong answer and it's all subjective. As pretty much everyone knows, The Exorcist is my all-time favourite film and the one I consider to be the greatest horror film ever made is, as William Friedkin says in the introduction, you take out the experience what you bring in so it could be a case of if you expect to laugh at the 40-year-old special effects, you will. I don't think Child's Play is considered a classic. It's a fun horror film, but not an all-time great and don't know anyone who thinks it is – even its director!

I appreciate Texas Chainsaw for the historical value of it, like the production, originality and what it started, but whenever I sit down to watch, I only skip to the Leatherface reveal, the capture of the next two, and the escape at the end, and that's all I watch. The rest I find rather painful and boring, but also very unsettling, so at least it was effective. I am yet to watch the Exorcist despite having it on the computer, because it simply will never live up to the hype I've been hearing of it since I was about 7 As for gangsta movies, well, you need a patience. I find them slow, but enjoyable. Godfather was fantastic, but Goodfellas I felt paled in comparison to Casino, which I absolutely adored. As for Scarface, that goes in the 80's cheese category for me, good fun.
