When I went to see Legend (which left me surprisingly cold), it was preceded by trailers and, unusually, I wanted to see all of the films.

Sicario

Suffragette

Macbeth

The Walk

The only one of the four which I was slightly unsure about was The Walk, and that's only because Man on Wire, the documentary about Philippe Petit and his extraordinary walk between the two towers of the World Trade Center, is such a brilliant piece of filmmaking that I'm not sure the dramatised film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (the main role) can live up to it, or if it is going to be designed to be a showcase for 3-D land use that technology to emphasise how high up he was.

Suffragette hasn't had great reviews, but it's an important story and it has an impressive cast, so I'm going to do my best to see it similar. Macbeth looks stunning and Michael Fassbender is one of the rare actors who never seems to have an off day.

I want to see the Hateful 8 - that's the only film that has seemed to interest me at the minute

I was unimpressed with Inglourious Basterds (too long and too episodic) and underwhelmed with Django Unchained (too long and too referential), so I want to love The Hateful Eight and will go and see it with an open mind.

That trailer was also shown when I saw Legend and forgot about it until this morning. I thought it looked as it could be good, but has all the right ingredients to be utterly terrible.

I was distinctly nonplussed by it; the acting, costumes, set decoration and production design were all top notch, but I'm not sure the 'Goodfellas' approach to the subject matter worked as well as if it had been treated like The Long Good Friday, and was more gritty and violent. It's also a little weird because there are many times where I was unsure whether something was supposed to be funny or not – some of the stuff Ronnie Kray says is extremely peculiar, and probably was at the time.

However, two of the people I went with thought it was brilliant, and it has had some extremely positive reviews by the critics. It's definitely worth watching, if only for Tom Hardy's remarkable performance(s].
