Took me a few watches of Jigsaw and Spiral to appreciate them but I suppose we can go for another Saw movie but at least it isn't a reboot.

Could be worse. At least it's not Halloween Reborn.

Good question. Critics hated R.I.P.D. and it was a box office bomb. Maybe they're hoping people will watch a sequel with a different cast, but if people weren't interested in watching a film starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges they are going to need some really popular names linked to the project to entice people to buy this straight-to-video follow-up.

Remember R.I.P.D.? Released in 2013, the comic book adaptation starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges was a box office failure for Universal Pictures, but it looks like Universal is ready to head back into the Rest in Peace Department nearly ten years later. A mysterious new project titled R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned, to our surprise, has just made its presence known.

R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned, an apparent sequel to 2013’s supernatural action comedy, is listed on this week’s ratings bulletin from the MPA, the film receiving a “PG-13” rating.

From Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, R.I.P.D. 2 is rated “PG-13” for “sequences of violence, language, disturbing images, and some crude/sexual references.”

This is the first we’ve even heard of this project. Stay tuned for more.

It has perplexed me. I know the Doom film flopped, but I could understand why they would make a small sequel. Keep the budget low enough, and enough curious viewers from the massive Doom fanbase would guarantee a profit.

Who on earth was holding a candle for R.I.P.D.?

Here is another prime eg of things that just can't be left alone.
Do companies employ someone to sit there and think what film can we do a remake, sequel, reboot etc off

According to IMDb it’s in post production so it’s finished filming. I wonder if it’s going straight to streaming services?

I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know this was a thing until a moment ago!
