And what was cut? According to the BBFC, they never cut it.

All the gore is missing. The head bite, the lot.

I have the US Anchor Bay dvd but saw the UK disc in Poundland and bought it because it had a slip cover last year (Halloween) decided to watch it and was appalled at the cuts. The Tiffany Shepis shower scene is intact, but all the gore is cut.

This was the version.

First of all the movie when it premiered on TV I loved it, but on DVD its rubbish. When I saw this on TV I loved the music, characters and the load of blood and gore. But this DVD is like a cut version. It doesn't feature any of the gory scenes! It's like one of those horror movies that are played during a time that they have to cut away the scenes too much because o the risk kids might see it, even though the nude scene are still present. Literally the three main scenes where there were plenty of blood (the girl's stomach ripped open, the sasquatch mauling a girl and the famous face eating scene have been cut just at the moment y would see the aftermath of the attacks. Everything I loved about this movie got taken away by a DVD. There better be an unrated version. Don't get this one, it's not the Abominable we know from TV.

VERY GOOD FILM THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE UK VERSION HAS BEEN CUT SO HARDLY ANY GORE UNLIKE THE REGION 1 VERSION WHICH IS 100% UNCUT AND PLENTY OF GORE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITHY UK VERSION

I don't know, possibly.

There are one or two Amazon reviews (verified purchases) regarding a 2006 release and they all mention blood, boobs etc.

I can only guess that High Fliers cut it themselves, like you suggest, or bought a print from a country that has no problem with nudity but finds gore too much.

I can only presume that no one at dvdcompare has actually watched the High Fliers release.
