Agreed. I recognised that CL had to promote it and see the positives but no amount of pseudo-intellectual chat about it being deep and meaningful convinced me*. It is a well made film with one very inciteful scene to gain publicity. Well done to the filmmakers because it worked.

I find some kitsch Hollywood childrens films offensive, but if I had to name one horror, it'd be Grotesque. I couldn't see any worth in that film at all.

*Just for the record, this comment wasn't aimed at anyone on here, it comes from reading some articles online. I found some approaches to the movie and the excuses being given for the film, fascinating.

- I Spit On Your Grave: classic Rape & Revenge; yes, it's not as good as HOTEOTP or LHOTL, but it's an interesting part of cinematic history. Although it's a bit difficult to say this, being a male person.

- Salo: mean, shocking, nasty --> yes / elaborate, compelling, fascinating --> yes

Both are not worth being called 'films' - both are nothing but crap. Period.

Methinks that some people take their love of animals a little bit too far.

I suppose it has to any of the Italian cannibal films, purely because of the animal cruelty scenes. I tend not to own any really offensive films because I quite like being married and seeing my kids without supervision!
