"The Witches" scared the living shit out of my daughter, it was the scene when Angelica Huston removes her mask to show her witch's face. We had to "throw" the film out of the house because it up set her so much, in fact it's in my wardrobe, but don't tell her!

Probably the first film scene to genuinely frighten me.

Watcher in the Woods, a Disney film with Bette Davis is a creepy little kids film.

I have Legend on Blu-ray and Tim Curry is still really scary in it! Especially for a kids film! I think it kind of pushed the limit of what is suitable for 'PG'.

Even though it is really more fantasy .... The Dark Crystal certainly has horrific elements imo.
