Default Christopher Lee on Mario Bava classic

I heard that Christopher Lee, hated Mario Bavas Bay of Blood and was revolted by it after seeing it at a screening. I think this film is great. I think Christopher Lee is great and starred in one of the best horrors ever (wicker man), although I don't agree with on poiltics he is a legend who I've admired for years. Can't help but wonder what he'd have thought of Cannibal Holocuast.

Default Christopher Lee on Mario Bava classic

give credit where its due, Christopher Lee appeared in some good films and will always be DRACULA to me, forget the rest
and THE WICKER MAN, excellent, but I find it funny in a way really, although I've never seen it it but hasn't Jess Franco's BLOODY JUDGE got some violence in it? the BU is the complete version so I've read, and his dislike for Bava's classic BAY OF BLOOD......?
Lee is without doubt a snob anyway

Default Cushing & Lee

as regards to PETER CUSHING, I always thought of him as a gentleman, quiet and a fine actor
DR. TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, et al
and he did make some good films with Lee

Cool

They both were big draws to the cinema for me in the 70s, Peter was such a nice man who was a perfect foil for Lee, I think it's kinda sad that Lee has grown dismissive of his Hammer days(tho he has always been kind and affectionate about the late Cushing) and what about that deep booming voice of Lee's. I'm gonna go against the grain and go for Lee, just done lots I like(Musketeers,Wicker,Bond) let alone Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the Mummy.

Bloody Judge had a lot of violence and nudity added to the different versions after Lee had finished filming.

I think this is the film he's really talking about, when he claims he didn't know there was nudity and sex in EUGENIE. He's spent 40+ years making that claim because he was embarassed when the latter film played in porno theatres. BLOODY JUDGE, by comparison, is pretty tame in its UK and US versions, the really grusome edit being the German one.

Default Cushing & Lee

There was no porn in BAY OF BLOOD.....and he disliked the violence in that?

I remember him on a talk show some years ago and he was angry really bcause he wasn't in the theatrical version of the final LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy
bet he was in the dvd version...

Peter Cushing is my fave of the two, although they worked well together in the movies they were both in.I'm looking forward to Severin's Blu-ray/DVD combo release of Horror Express, it's my personal favourite of the Cushing/Lee flicks.
