"Ahead of the release of his first album of non-soundtrack music in nearly five years, John Carpenter has shared a final pre-release single and accompanying video.

Following the stomping "Weeping Ghost" and dancefloor-ready "The Dead Walk," new single "Alive After Death" is a brooding, suspense-filled track, perfectly embodying the exhilarating, spine-chilling, story-telling soundtracks that Carpenter is famous for. The song is accompanied by an equally unsettling visual by legendary illustrator Boneface - a bold collaboration between two unique creative minds.

Lost Themes III: Alive After Death is set for release on February 5th via Sacred Bones. John famously called the first 'Lost Themes' album "a soundtrack for the movies in your mind.". On 'Alive After Death' those movies are even more vivid.

Underpinning Carpenter's renaissance as a musician has been his collaboration with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. They've composed and performed as a trio since the first 'Lost Themes' album in 2015: on studio albums, on soundtracks, and onstage. Here, the trio reaches a new level of creative mind meld. Richly rendered worlds are built in the interplay between Davies's guitar and the duelling synthesizers played by the Carpenters. "We begin with a theme, a bass line, a pad, something that sounds good and will lead us to the next layer," John says of the trio's process. "We then just keep adding on from there. We understand each other's strengths and weaknesses, how to communicate without words, and the process is easier now than it was in the beginning. We've matured.""

Thank you for the reply. I was sorely tempted seeing it for a trifling £8.50.

I have the Sanctuary dvd with the Newman / Jones chat track which is a lot of fun. It's a pity the Shout release doesn't have it as i often listen to it after my Halloween night watch.

I might just have a look what that disc looks like and maybe not bother with an upgrade.

I watched I Spit on Your Grave Deja Vu on dvd last night and that looked better than several Blu-rays i own.

I'm still hoping Arrow or someone might release a box set over here, but with StudioCanal holding the rights to the first film that might be an issue

You never know. It was and remains popular. I could imagine them coming out in a set with a book, lobby cards and replica poster.
