If I had to give up my entire collection except for one disc, I'd be hanging on to "Nightmare City". Cheese on an epic scale is a very apt description. I know it's awful but I love it so.

Has anyone ever seen the inserts George Romero shot for the US release of Spasmo?

i love the stuff he has done with carol baker

like A Quiet Place to Kill, Knife of ice, paranoia etc

having had a telephone conversation with him about 15 years ago he his one of the most humblest people i have ever crossed paths with. he couldn't understand why anybody would be a " fan" of his work, watch them yes but actually be a fan no.

I'm also a big fan of Baker!

There's one scene in Spasmo which looks a bit jarring (something with a girl on the ground and a wig changing if I remember correctly?)
Always wondered what that was about since the rest of the film looks flawless.

New but sadly very short interview (only 5 questions were allowed) with Lenzi about his early adventure films.

Default Umberto Lenzi

Almost Human would have to be one of my favourite Lenzi movies. Picked up the Italian DVD a couple of years ago.

Never been a big fan of Cannibal Ferox, and Eaten Alive is pretty dire. Quite liked Deep River Savages though.

Also agree that Oasis of Fear is pretty good.

The only Lenzi film that I've seen is Nightmare City. Yes, it's crud but it has a charm all of it's own. Also, I like the fact that he went with running "zombies" and I like the ending.

I had a Lenzi double-bill yesterday of Nightmare Beach and Nightmare City.

Nightmare Beach is terrible, but the 80's cheese always appeals to me. Nightmare City is great fun though, like you said it has it's own special charm, which I find most of Lenzi's films have... especially his movies circa the 80's.
