Paul Inder - Lemmy's son: "Travel well, my dear father. You are back out on the road for a longest tour to the great gig in the sky."

A fitting tribute

Lay in bed this morning and watched the 2 hours plus of Lemmy's service on you tube, very touching and at times funny. My missus is not a Motorhead fan like me but was crying at one point, especially when his son spoke. Lars Ulrich even had a good speech. R.I.P Lemmy.

I know it's awful. No more albums either.

I'd be all for some sort of posthumous album if Lemmy has vocal tracks already recorded for songs.

I hope Phil and Mickey feel they can carry on together in some form, obviously not under the Motorhead name but something similar. Snaggletooth perhaps?

This might seem controversial but they've both been in the band a long time, much longer than any of the original line up, Lemmy aside. Campbell -31 years and Dee - 23 years, and they are one hell of a duo. It would be great if they could hire a new singer and start afresh. Take Black Star Riders as an example of what i mean. Thin Lizzy as they would be now in all but name with Ricky Warwick on vocals.

I just hate the idea of there not being some form of Motorhead in existence.

Lemmy R.I.P.

Nice sentiment Dem, I would like to think so as I am sure it's their life and just like Lemmy want to rock until they hang up their boots themselves.

Just doing some housework and blasting out my favourite album by Motorhead 'On Parole', it's one of the lightest albums they churned out but brings back so many memories and for epitomises everything he / they stood for, no nonsense rebellious lyrics, excellent guitars, rock and blues and shows some more harmonious elements in his voice and music that was not utilised enough for me, he was more than just a growler.

It would be interesting to find a list of who attended his service as in the video not everybody got up, somebody referenced Ozzy being there, it would of been hilarious here him get up and tell a few tales.

Somebody also mentioned the gig at Port Vale ground, I had a few mates who wore this t-shirt who attended, too early for me though as did not attend my first gig until I was 15, 4 years later. Being a Stoke fan I couldn't have gone anyway being at the Port (spits) Vale ground....

Here is the poster for it.

That's how i preferred my festivals. One day, five or six good bands, then home with your ears ringing.

I don't have On Parole. It's one of three i don't have. March or Die and Bastards being the other two.

Too right, these 2 and 3 day festivals are too much for an old fart like myself! Camping? Me? on hard ground? I wouldn't be able walk never mind enjoy myself

They also have so many stages now where you are likely to miss somebody you want to see, trying to squeeze too much in. One stage, a bill of half dozen bands, big crowd, job done.

"Food And Beverage" Magazine have officially renamed Jack Daniels & Coke as 'The Lemmy'

According to the poster, the official cocktail consists of "2 ounces of Jack, 10 ounces of Coke and a dash of… bitters???? You then shake it with ice and strain it into a whiskey glass and add a twist of lemon peel as a garnish".

I can just see Lemmy with a twist of lemon in his drink, can't you!!!!
