Having been a tad disappointed with 2009's Endgame after the terrific United Abominations this was the first Megadeth cd i'd bought in what was 7 years looking back, Th1rt3en and Super Collider having passed me by. If anyone can recommend these two albums then please do so.
On first listen Dystopia seems a return to form. Fast, state of the art speed metal played with a lot of technical ability as well as memorable songs. Opening track The Threat is Real is a scorcher and will kill in the live arena, in fact the opening three track salvo is a real treat. The rest of the album i cannot judge as i've heard it only the one time except the final two songs - The Emperor, which reminds me of earlier Risk material, catchy and a little commercial, whereas final song Foreign Policy comes across as practically hardcore by Megadeth standards.
An album i'm sure will get a lot of air time from me. Recommended.
Watched The Beach again last night. Love the film, although the book is far better. Like the song too.
I haven't read the book, but heard Ewan McGregor was perfect for the lead role. However, because it was an American film, they wanted a more marketable actor and Leonardo DiCaprio was riding high from Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, and The Man in the Iron Mask. However, there are rumours McGregor and Danny Boyle clashed in preproduction leading the role of Richard to go to DiCaprio and be rewritten as an American.
