Since Liverpool is aka Ireland, it is here too We probably have more Irish people than Ireland does haha

I really like Epica. Got several of their albums. The last one Omega was immense.

If you were to try some i'd say go with Lacuna Coil as they verge on Extreme music.

As Justin says these bands evolve so much over the years.

Had you asked the best band in 2005 i'd have said Nightwish. No contest.

However they fell out and sacked singer Tarja Turunen and have never been the same since although they've done some cracking songs.

@Nordy - When it gets a little nearer to Christmas listen to Tarja's From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas) album. It's absolutely stunning. The title sums it up beautifully.

Their recent ish work sounds like a cross between Moonspell and female fronted symphonic metal.
