My Anthro arrived whilst on holiday.
I also ordered A BLADE IN THE DARK and half expected it to despatch maybe a week or two early.
But according to Amazon,it's been put back until 3rd August.

Their site still says 20th July.:rolleyes:

I watched a couple of scenes from both films earlier today.

Anthro looks, err... watchable. Not quite as bad as barbecuing a £20 note (as I'm sure some will think), but it's hard not to feel a little pang of disappointment. Takes me back to the Arrow Video vs Blue Underground transfer wars from five years ago.

On the other hand, ZH looks absolutely fantastic! I know this term has been overused to the point of self-parody, but it's really kind of like the perfect grindhouse experience.

These are just first impressions, mind.

I watched Zombi Holocaust last night with the English track and was extremely impressed with the picture and sound; it is noticeably higher quality than Anthropophagous, but then it has received at least one HD release before, so the source material (in this case the OCN) may have been in better nick.

Anthro tbh is the best I've seen it.

Scalps (still working on the transfer), and don't think The Dead Next Door is scheduled yet. Definitely not before December going by the one they posted on Facebook a few weeks ago.

So Zombi Holocaust, it's one hell of a goofy movie and always will be. The transfer is ok, not great but ok. Some scenes fair better than others which could well be because of the film stock used and conditions. It's certainly grainy occasionally very grainy, could this be the one transfer where DNR could have helped?

All in all 88 have done the best job possible, Holocaust is never going to look amazing it's an old Italian, cheaply made horror film. As I type this I'm watching the Eaten Alive documentary, the Holocaust scenes used as inserts look pretty good, where they taken from an SD master or somewhere else?
