Gotta agree with you there, Pete. After reading an enthusiastic fanzine review of CTN some years ago i was looking forward to catching the film but was disappointed when i eventually saw the Western in question.

The negative and 35mm print were lost on TOMCATS, but Wayne had the "longer version" on a 3/4 inch tape master before the distributor edited the film to get an "R" rating." (Code Red)
I checked this today & unfortunately TOMCATS is the censored 'R' version. The opening rape was far more graphic in the TEMPLE precert & there are several obvious trims during the scene in the dvd version.I can't believe the highly offensive trailer they got away with at the time as it seems to belittle rape. Those were the days..The version on the dvd runs about 83 minutes like the 'R' cut.

I know Marc Morris still has the precert so I'm hoping that he can check if he bought the CR release.I now have 22 of their dvds so nobody can say I've not done anything to support the label.Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker is the one I'm waiting for now so fingers crossed.

I am so hoping this actually appears. I really like this film and more people ought to catch up with it. Watched it again (through a haze of worn VHS fuzz!) a few weeks ago and it seemed better than ever.

I would LOVE a disk of it.

I asked Bill about Tomcats but he didn't gave me much info...
"The tape master was a nightmare to get playing and I only included it as an extra" was what he basically told me.
But I read some time ago he's thinking about a special edition of Tomcats, maybe that will include the longer version?
Let's hope so.
