Whenever i see a sword in the ground i always think of Braveheart.

it isn't going to be highlander cause it was released in the UK by studio canal and in the US by Lionsgate I hope it's Conan but I have got a feeling that it's going to be US only hope I'm wrong.

Conan has been rumoured for awhile now and it is owned by Universal who Arrow have a longstanding relationship with, so it seems the most likely.

It will have to be cut in the UK unless the BBFC have had a change of heart…

That would suit me just fine -- I have all the books, all the comics, but somehow never bought the two Conan films in BR. I own only Conan Destroyer in DVD, which I purchased about a month ago on eBay because of the Kim Newman commentary which can be found nowhere else. So I'm hoping for Conan!

Edit: if possible, a nice double package with both movies and all the extras! offers prayer to the small god of film releases

Although it won't do anything to change history, I am happy not to watch horses being deliberately tripped, so that doesn't really bother me.

I don't own any release of Conan the Barbarian and am not aware of it being released on Blu-ray anywhere in the world, so this would be quite a coup for Arrow.

If it's a horse trip, the BBFC's hands will be tied. They interpret the 1937 Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act as generously as possible these days, even to the point of ruling that clean kills are fine (hence virtually all of Cannibal Holocaust bar the coatimundi torture getting through), but the Act was passed in the first place to outlaw horse tripping in Westerns, and so there's no real wiggle room unless the filmmakers can prove it was faked. Which, in the case of horse trips, they most likely can't.

(Hollywood became a lot more conscientious not long after Conan was made - it was Heaven's Gate that kicked off a major row that led to the American Humane Association's current prominence, but I'm assuming Conan was already in the can by then.)

I have the existing UK blu ray from a number of years back. Quite a good disc although Conan is one I'd seriously consider upgrading for a nice package preferably with original artwork.
