I read the article properly after posting, silly me! I am surprised the BBFC have passed it uncut. It's possible the films reputation that's more brutal than the film itself. Now, how much animal slaughter is there?

Cat and a rabbit, only watched my copy once, so I can't remember how graphic, but I don't think we're talking Italian Cannibal film level, could be wrong though

I might be able to bear it if it's not the horrible slow carnage of Ferox. Probably not an instant buy more a rental first, but The Visitor is an immediate purchase. That's intrigued me for years and I was close buying the recent US release.

Nekromantic is more artsy fartsy than people would have you believe. I love the look of it.

Nekro is a fun slice of horror crossed with the aesthetics of Nik Zedd's Cinema of Transgression. It also has one of the funniest climaxes in the history of cinema

Nah i don't think so. Nekromantik is one of the most famous horror films among fans. Therefore mainstream.

I bet more people know of it than say, Contraband, for example.

I bet you've been holding onto those words of mine for months hoping for this moment.

I'm not knocking either release by the way. Both are very welcome additions to the UK home video market.

Post "August Underground" and the like, Nekro does seem mainstream and almost quaint.

Well I've known about it and it's sequel since I was 12, from reading about them in the Dark Side, I'd say they're pretty mainstream for horror fans

Surprised they got Nekromantik through the BBFC unscathed. Very surprised. Although often tongue-in-cheek (or eyeball in mouth) it does feature some pretty unpleasant stuff and the necrophiliac scenes are quite strong in their own way. Is that sexual violence? Not sure how it would be classed. The final scene is very OTT but quite unlike anything you've ever seen.

I bet Nekro 2 would have a harder time as it's a bit more serious in tone and has a scene where they're watching animal violence on TV. I think 2 is the better film, though IMO.
