Great news if it's a restored version, as this has never really looked great on video or dvd.

I saw the original dvd release in CEX last year but held off as they were asking £15 for it.

Lets hope for a decent 16x9 picture. It seems that all releases are crap at best.
I have the UK release and it is awful.

Perhaps the source materials aren't there for a hi-def release. Anyway lets hope this is a decent improvement on the last release.

Bob Furmanek on CHFB has confirmed a 4K restoration for TRIFFIDS is underway. He has seen the 4K scans and quote 'they look absolutely amazing'

i can't help feeling DVD buyers are getting a raw deal here as there are clearly going to be elements available in the future for a stellar transfer.

How do you know this release isn't from that restoration? Not in hi-def obviously but the same quality as a dvd from a dual format release release for example.

Edit - It's a transfer from the BBC master. They are negotiating for the HD release.

because the work is ongoing - hence the use of the BBC master. don't know why Screenbound can't just wait and do a dvd and blu from the same HD restoration. i'm ok, as i'll wait for blu, but fans who only buy dvd, i think, have cause for complaint.
