Weekly Comp - Two Evil Eyes - 25/04/2010
Hello! It's me again, you're friendly neighbourhood competition guy. And this week we've got super amazing DVD up for grabs. The kings of horror, George A. Romero and Dario Argento meet again in: Label: Arrow Video Release date: 10th May 2010 Release type: DVD Certificate: 18 Running time: 120 mins Pricing: £15.99 Genre: Feature Film - Horror Director: Dario Argento, George A. Romero Stars: Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Atkins, Bingo O'Malley, E.G.Marshall, Harvey Keitel, Sally Kirkland, Martin Balsam, Julie Benz TWO OF HORROR’S GREATEST DIRECTORS, DARIO ARGENTO AND GEORGE A. ROMERO, JOIN FORCES FOR ‘TWO EVIL EYES’. Two Evil Eyes (aka Due Occhi Diobolici) brings together two of the horror genre's greatest directors, George A. Romero (Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead) and Dario Argento (Suspiria, Inferno, Tenebre, Sleepless), to remake two Edgar Allan Poe tales previously brought to the big screen by B-movie maestro Roger Corman in his 1962 film, 'Tales Of Terror'. Directed by Romero, The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar tells the story of a scheming, cheating wife (Adrienne Barbeau) who convinces her psychiatrist lover (Ramy Zada) to hypnotise her dying husband (Bingo O'Malley) in order to get him to sign his fortune over to her. When the husband dies while still under hypnosis, he finds himself caught in a limbo between the worlds of the living and the dead, and hungry for revenge. In The Black Cat, directed by Argento, Harvey Keitel plays Roderick Usher, a feline-hating, Weegee-like forensic photographer who, naturally, specialises in shooting pictures of death and murder scenes. When his wife, Annabel (Madeleine Potter) brings home a stray cat, Usher wastes no time in disposing of the animal. Unfortunately, the cat refuses to stay dead, prompting Usher's terrifying, murderous descent into madness. Starring genre movie favourites Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog, Escape From New York, Creepshow), Tom Atkins (The Fog, Escape From New York, Creepshow, Halloween III:Season Of The Witch), Bingo O'Malley (Knightriders, Creepshow) and E.G. Marshall (Creepshow), alongside Harvey Keitel (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction), Sally Kirkland (The Sting, The Player, JFK), Kim Hunter (Planet Of The Apes), Martin Balsam (The Six Million Dollar Man, All The President's Men) and John Amos (Die Hard 2), the movie also marks the feature film debut of a young Julie Benz (Darla from TV's Angel and Buffy The Vampire Slayer). Featuring plenty of bloody mayhem to please the gore-hounds, courtesy of special make-up effects wizards Tom Savini (Dawn Of The Dead, Creepshow, Day Of The Dead) and John Vulich (Day Of The Dead, TV's Buffy The Vampire Slayer), and set to a suitably chilling score by Pino Donaggio (Carrie, Dressed To Kill, The Howling), Two Evil Eyes is an essential addition to every horror aficionado's collection. Two Evil Eyes (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (£15.99) by Arrow Video on 10th May 2010. Now that's what I call an amazing cast! Meow! Meow! So to be in for a chance of winning, here's all you have to do. And trust me, it's VERY simple! The Black Cat or The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar ? Which one is better? Well, there's only one way to find out. FIGHT!!!!!!!!! All you have to do this week is below pick one film. Only one film. THE single greatest film ever made. Then on wednesday, I'll put all the film's into one post and it's up to you to vote for the best one. The three people with the most votes....wins! Here's some advice. Everyone knows the list of greatest films, I mean you've got The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, or if you're sticking to horror, there's The Shinning, Halloween, The Exorcist. And whilst you can have any of these as your choice of film, what about something less obvious. A film that is fun every time you watch it, a film that you can't help but luv. Things like Basketcase, or something more disturbing. Whatever. Just post your chosen film below with a brief little bit on why you think that film should win. When wednesday comes around, I'll post up a poll and members will be able to vote. On Sunday the three entrants with the most votes wins this excellent DVD! Job done! Simple! So, get cracking on with those films!!!!!!!! Remember only one film per person - so make it a good un! Good luck everyone! Kyle And here's some pictures from the film, just for the sake of awesomeness:

Mine has to be Jurassic Park Without a doubt one of Speilberg's greatest movies. Without this I do not think effects would have got to the stage where they are today. It showed the film world what CGI can really do when the right people create it. In those days it was hard to tell the diffrences between the animetronic dino's and the CGI dino's. Thats my reason |

Fully agree. Hard to believe this is 17 years old now. The FX are still phenomenal and the film also has equally interesting characters who you care about (unlike many of today's movies).

Yup, thats why I dont agree with people saying they hate effects movies cause of how lame or fake it looks. I just tell em to watch JP. ILM are truly amazing in what they do and im glad Speilberg always uses them in his movies.

I don't like Spielberg (well, not post-1977, anyway) and I thought Jurassic Park was an absolutely awful film in most ways... ...but DINOSAURS!!!! I rest my case. |

For me, the greatest film ever made irrespective of genre is Sergio Leone's Once Upon A Time In The West. This is why: http://www.cult-labs.com/forums/show...3&postcount=75 |
