Yes, thats in the trailer ive got as well, but having seen 3 versions of 'phagus over the years, id still say it's safe, material in trailers not used in the finished film? Never heard of that before....

AAAnd anyway Buio Omega is far and above the better film imo.

On a tangent, ive noticed a lot of newish emoticons, cant we have one that expresses "why, i oughta!" etc? i.e. something similar to the facepalm but instead he's shaking his fist....just a thought cough cough.

In the trailer there are blood gushing out from the wounds, and in the film her face is skinned on the splinters but without the blood... It was quite some time since I saw it, but as I recall I couldn't see any obvious cuts and I couldn't see where the blood-frames could have fit in the scene... I got the impression that they used some alternative footage in the film.

Perhaps someone has the integral version/bootleg from Midnight Video on VHS? At least they claimed to have the most complete version.

Anyway, I have the following Massaccesi films:

Absurd
Anthropophagus
Beyond the Darkness
Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals
Frankenstein 2000
War Baby / Devil in the Flesh

and I think Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals is the most entertaining, but I can't really say any of them is good...

I have seen very few of his movies (only 4 alack!).
But considering he directed exactly 200 titles (according to IMDB) that doesn't really bother me.
What I have seen:
Antrophagus: Good old nasty slasher. Bit dull at moment sadly. 7/10
Endgame: Awsome bit of sci-fi scholck. Shameless should really consider releasing this. 7/10
Contamination.7: Meh. 4/10
Love Goddess of the Cannibals: Hell'uva lot of fun. Plenty of sex and smaterings of gore. Luvely. 8/10

Yeah, I'd say Beyond the Darkness was the better film, but that's not to say I don't love Anthro. It would be great if Shameless could release both of these uncut onto DVD/BD.Neither of them have had a fully uncut release in the UK since the days of pre-cert video, I believe.

Has anyone seen a film called 2020 Texas Gladiators?
I think i was only about 7 when i last saw it, but from what i recall it was highly entertaining.
And i'm sure that it starred someone from Fulci's Zombie.

I've not seen it but I think it has Al Cliver in it and is known as 2020 Freedom Fighters too, no doubt Pete will know

Yup, that's D'Amato's other contribution to the PA genre and does indeed feature Al Cliver. Not seen it myself - I did have a dvdr but it kept stopping about 10 mins in.

Default Joe D'Amato = awesome!

Honestly, I don't get all the denigration of D'Amato. He's not the craftsman that, say, Argento is, but he's a good cinematographer and definitely above the level of, say, one of the Bianchis. His "hard softcore" films are almost always sexy in the way softcore films seldom are (compare his Black Emanuelle series to Just Jaeckin's for a clear example of the difference), and his horror films are fun and transgressive, if not self consciously "stylish". He's better than Lenzi in my eyes, and I like Lenzi as well...I'd take any so called "hacks" like these over a Michael Bay or James Cameron any day of the week!

Since some folks are comparing which D'Amato films they saw/own, here's my list. The only real stinkers are Troll 2 (which is very unintentionally funny, so it's still a keeper) and Caligola. The Alcove wasn't the greatest, but hey, it's got Cliver and Gemser, so it gets a pass. And I know not all of the below sets are 100% D'Amato films - they just include some) :

1. Erotic Nights Of The Living Dead
2. Porno Holocaust
3. Sex and Black Magic (Orgasmo Nero)
4. Exotic Malice (Sesso Nero)
5. Beyond The Darkness
6. Witchery
7. Anthropophagus The Grim Reaper
8. Horrible (Absurd)
9. Papaya Love Goddess Of The Cannibals
10. Ator The Fighting Eagle
11. Joe D'Amato Collection (All 8 Eleven Days, Eleven Nights Movies, “Girls In The Street”
12. Troll / Troll 2 (Joe D’amato)
13. Images In A Convent (D’amato)
14. Convent Of Sinners (D’amato)
15. Killer Snakes (Eva Nera – D’amato/Gemser / Isle Of The Snake People - Karloff)
16. Black Emanuelle Box 1-2 (Emanuelle And The White Slave Trade / Emanuelle In America /
Emanuelle And The Last Cannibals)
(Emanuelle In Bangkok/ Sister Emanuelle / Emanuelle Around The World)
17. Top Girl
18. Provocation
19. Chinese Kamasutra
20. China & Sex
21. Caligola - La Storia Mai Raccontata (SE)
22. The Alcove (D’Amato / Gemser)

2020-Texas Gladiators could be a good film for Shameless to release as part of their post-apocalypic collection.
And would love to see Endgame released as well.
