It was interesting to note that, when they had footage of The Specials at performing 'Too Much Too Young', it was a censored version - they cut out the entire final verse concerning contraception

Broadcast version:

Steve Wright was always a smug little man it seems. Banshees were cool though....

More eclectic fun this week with such delights as Martha and the Muffins (echo beach?), Shakin' Stevens, The Lambrettas (poison ivy?), UB40, Barbara Dickson (Performing the fantastic January, Febuary), Sad Cafe, The Jam, The Bodysnatchers and the mighty Squeeze.

Holy Shit Batman! I've just realised that Squeeze will be performing Pulling Muscles (From The Shell). My absolute favourite Squeeze song of all time. You have to tune in for this alone. (Keep your beak shut, MTDS! )

The UK Subs make an appearance tonight. It's worth tuning in alone for this performance, IMO.

We are up to 1982 now and tonights episode features the mighty Killing Joke performing Empire Song. See if you can spot the mistake when they are on.

Its on BBC 4 at half seven or you can catch the uncut version at one in the morning.

Here's an oddity!

On the edition of 'Top Of The Pops' from July 9th, 1980, both Thin Lizzy and Saxon were booked to perform

Sadly, this edition of the show was never broadcast because of a BBC musicians’ strike, but we *DO* still have a record of the rehearsal footage featuring members of the BBC staff standing in for the band members!

For your entertainment

Almost Thin Lizzy...

...and not quite Saxon
