Total bargain, thought I did well getting it for £12.99 when Play were closing down the retail arm.

monkeypedro 2nd October 2013 07:12 AM

Had a look at what else the seller had listed and noticed From beyond Bluray and the Scanners Steelbook for £8.99 each which is the cheapest i have seen them.
I could not resist and ordered From Beyond as great price.

How different will it be from the existing version?

Found new Maniac in HMV £7.99 btw.

Totally new remaster, bluray.com say the new transfer is about as good as it could ever get; haven't watched mine myself yet though. Also comes in a neat little set with free postcards with behind the scenes footage on plus a card tag which is a replica of the one given out at the original premiere, which those invited wrote their name on.

Do you know if it has any new special features from the one I already have? I want to know whether it'll be worth owning or not.

Just picked up Akira Blu over at Amazon Marketplace for a very respectable £4.63, brand new (Zoverstocks). This will replace my old, old Pioneer DVD...

That's a great price. What is it like as far as the audio tracks go? Does it have the original Australian dialogue on each film or the American dubs?

Paul@TheOverlook 21st October 2013 04:28 PM

Monster Club is currently selling for just $8.99 (works out at £9.95 delivered) on Amazon.com at the moment.

The first one has original 2.0 / American dub 5.1. The other two have 5.1 original audio. If you really want 5.1 Aussie on the first one go region A and pay a lot more :)

I'm not that bothered about them, so thanks for the info. Looks like a purchase!

Yup that's what I thought when I paid £13.99 to get the set in a cheap tin "petrol can" last week. They all look great

With shipping, it works out at £9.95, so I've just ordered one. That's insanely good value.

In some ways that's good to hear thought it might be with not being in America, well seems amazon.com are just as bad as amazon.co.uk for dispatching

bdc 24th October 2013 07:01 PM

Keep in mind it's region A.

I think they got swamped with orders and that's why it sold out and it may take some time before they have new stock?

trebor8273 25th October 2013 09:45 AM

Well those zavvi bargains of arrow titles didn't last long they have all gone back up in price, I should of ordered black sabbath and black Sunday when they were 8.50 30 minutes ago!!!

I just hope they honour my orders of

TCM 2
Long goodbye
People under the stairs

You may find that Black Sabbath and Black Sunday appear in Arrow's Halloween deals at £7.99 each over the next few days, so you might be glad that you missed them!

I have the Criterion BD so can't comment on the UK release, but it should be worth the money – it's one of the greatest horror films ever made and the disc must be better than the DVD.

Paul@TheOverlook 3rd November 2013 05:44 PM

Positive review for the UK Rosemary's Baby disc here.

"Virtually identical to those of the high-definition transfer Criterion used for their Blu-ray" according to blu-ray.com and at £6.99 it couldn't get a lot cheaper. Cheers for the alert

Surprised how many blu's (new/sealed) you can pick up for less than 2 pounds from private sellers on Amazon UK...

SCRE4M (Scream 4) is a bargain if you're a fan of the series.

oaxaca 19th November 2013 03:14 PM

Brilliant, thanks so much, have wanted the US version of this for years but its always been too expensive!

To be honest, I find the distinction between a Bargain and Bargain Discussion thread a pain in the ass. Most of the time people post their coments in alert thread anyway - which makes sense, because they are directly refering to the offer.

I definetly prefered the old system were Bargain Alerts and coments where in the same thread. Am I the only one feeling that way?

Quite a few people wanted separate threads so they know when there is an e-mail alert to say there is a post in the Blu-ray Bargains thread then know that means there is a new bargain, not someone commenting on a bargain.

Rik 19th November 2013 05:22 PM

Doesn't affect me, as I disabled all emails months ago due the amount I was getting, now I just use the "new posts" button at the top of the forum
