Hey Reaper, any chance you could track down a scan of the old vhs spread for the original release of 'Last House on Dead End Street' for me? Would be much appreciated. These are the only two covers I've ever seen for it, ones the Tartan Grindhouse release and the others the Barrel Entertainment release, I'd love to see it's original cover.

I don't know, was it not? I just assumed at one point it would have been. Unless it only ever played in cinema's back when it came out.

I'll leave it in your capable hands Cheers mate.

No I don't think Last House on Dead End Street was ever released. According to Marc Morris in Shock! Horror! It appears a release was planned but it didn't go any further.

LHODES was released on vhs in the US and France.
I got a copy taken from an original tape many years ago and it would never play properly on any vhs player I own. It goes B/W and jumpy in parts.
I'll still got it to this day.
I bought the Tartan DVD even though its utter crap, but im facinated by anything with a snuff theme.

Looks as if the UK pre-cert release was cancelled or unreleased for unknown reasons - http://www.pre-cert.co.uk/cgi-bin/cms/Film/57770

The BBFC never saw the film until 2006. It's been suggested, though never officially proved, that Hooper's The Funhouse ended up as a (brief) nasty because it was mistaken for this film due to one of the alternate titles (Fun House) being similar.

Cheers for finding out guys. I heard that aswell. Thats what got me thinking it had been released because I heard it was supposed to be banned where as Hoopers Fun House got banned instead. So was LHODES just in limbo until it finally got picked up for a DVD release?

Last House stood no realistic chance of getting passed James Ferman.
