THIS WEEK @ CULT LABS: 25 MARCH 2011

DING DONG THE BELLS ARE GOING TO CHIME!

Because my best friend’s getting married in the morning! And I am bridesmaid and I get to wear a pretty pink dress and drink champagne! Hurrah! I’m not very sure she’d be too thrilled that I’m announcing her wedding to the Cult Labs community next to a picture of a man being crucified underneath lady’s bare bottom but what can you do? I can’t help that Island of Death (Arrow Video: DVD) is out now, can I? Incidentally, if you want to find out more you can read the blog or join in the debate!

My weekend with bridezilla actually signals the start of a two week holiday from Cult Labs for me. This means I won’t be about the forums very much, nor will I be writing the newsletter. The next two issues will be written for you by the lovely Kyle assuming, that is, the zombie apocalypse doesn’t happen in the next fortnight. If that happens, Kyle has asked me to tell you he’s busy.

ALSO OUT NOW

Also out right now from Cult Labs is The King Maker (Anchor Bay Entertainment: DVD). This Thai historical epic stars former UK boxing contender Gary Stretch and noted British thesp John-Rhys Davies. Check out the blog or join in the chatter on the official thread!

Also out this week:

OUT NEXT WEEK

Coming next week from the most sensual (and scary) corner of the Labs is The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh (Shameless Screen Entertainment: DVD). This Shameless Fan Edition is simply gorgeous (much like the lovely Edwige Fenech herself) and features reversible artwork and a wealth of special features. You cannot miss this excellent UK release of Sergio Martino’s giallo classic and if you can’t take my word for it you can read more on the blog or check out the official mini-forum!

Also out next week from Cult Labs:

COMING SOON FROM CULT LABS

One of the films I am most excited about is Norwegian Ninja (EOne: DVD, 18 April 2011). It’s one of those titles that just sounds cool and the fact that it’s from the producers of the brilliant Dead Snow just makes it even better. Cult Labs are delighted to have created the ninja-tastic official hubsite for the film. Head over there to learn more about this fascinating collision of real life events and the pop culture fascinations of the directors younger self! While there find links to reviews, threads, images and much, much more!

Also coming soon from Cult Labs:

  • Monsters (Vertigo Films: DVD & Blu-ray, 11 April 2011) – check out the blog and the official thread!

THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON AT THE LABORATORY

I’ve got so much pampering to do before the weekend. Even the fake tan is going on so you just know I’m serious about this! While I turn myself a delicate shade of tangerine, why don’t I point out what’s caught my eye over at the Labs this week?

Cult Labs needs your FAQs!

We do indeed! We’re in the process of redesigning the FAQ section of the site but to do that we need to know what questions you would like answering. We’ve had some great suggestions already but we need more. So head on over to this thread to ask about anything you’ve ever wondered about Cult Lab. But no, we won’t tell you what we’re wearing!

Arrow Video – The Bird With The Crystal Plumage

The BBFC have recently passed this with no cuts made which makes it an even more super exciting release! This thread is the official place to go to chat all things bird, crystal and, indeed, plumage so why not get yourself over there and start gassing!

Scream 4

So the forthcoming release of Scream 4 has me well excited. I grew up on the Scream films and loved every single corny second (even, gasp, Scream 3). I’m totally terrified that Scream 4 will suck incredibly badly (worse than, gasp, Scream 3) but I’m still willing to give it a go. After all, that half-brother-out-of-nowhere dude can’t come back again… Can he?

The Big Clint Thread

Who doesn’t love a bit of Clint Eastwood? I adore him with the kind of passion that, in my formative years, I reserved for men like Peter Andre and Ronan Keating. Now older and wiser, I see the merits of a stern jaw, grizzled features and a .44 Magnum. Head on over to this thread to chat all things Eastwood. Or Big Clint as we like to call him round these parts…

If you’re heading over to the forums, be sure to check out the forum rules and pop into the new members thread to say hello if you haven’t already. If you ever feel intimidated by the behaviour of any Cult Labs members, tell one of the mods in strictest confidence: that’s me, Reaps, Stephen, Nos and bizarre_eye.

KYLE’S COMP CORNER

This week, Kyle has copies of the marvelous Altitude to give away. For this high-flying horror film to be yours, all you have to do is head on over to the Comp Corner now! Good luck…

GET INVOLVED WITH CULT LABS

There are so many ways you can get involved with all the cult film fun at Cult Labs:

Well, that’s it from me for a couple of weeks. I will miss all of you and can only hope you’ll miss me a little bit too. Except you won’t. Because Kyle is boss!

See you all soon!
