THE ORIGINAL AND, FRANKLY, FUNNIER AUSTRALIAN SERIES THAT INSPIRED A US REMAKE AND NOW THE LATEST COMEDY SENSATION ON BBC3.

Wilfred is a comedy show that attempts to give a human voice to all the jealousies, bad behaviour and ‘little accidents’ that happen when a dog has it’a territory invaded. The hapless Adam (Adam Zwar) finds a new girlfriend – Sarah (Cindy Waddingham) at the opening of series one, but her mangy dog Wilfred (Jason Gann) has very different ideas.

Unfortunately for Adam, Wilfred has, in the imaginations of the show’s writers, the characteristics of a borderline sociopath teenage boy and all the drives and instincts of a status aware pet. This leads to much soiling of carpets, digging up of backyards all the dirty protests one might expect from a confused animal, but also midnight raids on local Cannabis factories and an ongoing feud in which Sarah never seems to twig that her beloved pet is in fact a stoner evil mastermind with no morals and a compunction to urinate up the living room wall as ‘a cry for help’.

Check out the latest promo clip for a taste of how Adam is pushed to greater and greater extremes in his escalating war with his lovers dog…

Wilfred: Season One (cert. 18) and Wilfred: Season Two (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (priced at £24.99 each) by Fabulous Films on 12th March 2012.

I get it, I get it. The Office was a much better series than it’s American re-make, but Wilfred? Granted, I haven’t has the opportunity to watch the original series here in the States, but the US remake is phenomenal. I have a hard time believing the original was superior.
