THIS WEEK @ CULT LABS: 20 MAY 2011

AND THE SUNSHINE REAPPEARS…

… Just in time for me getting a massive extra big helping of work to do.Fabulous! Because when I’m not busy and could spend hours outdoors, it rains. Damn you British summertime!

Should the weather change again and you are stuck indoors, however, be happy in the knowledge that there is at least something good for you to watch! Namely Romasanta: The Werewolf Hunt which is out now on DVD from Arrow Video. The film is also available as part of their Fantastic Factory Presents… box set so why not spend an evening watching this brill little film?

Apart from that, it’s a relatively quiet week on the release front so, instead, I’m gonna come up with some specials for you. Enjoy…

CINE-EXCESS V

Cine-Excess, the annual International Conference on Global Cult Film returns to London at the end of May with Cine-Excess V . The event will take place at the Odeon Covent Garden from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 May and will be attended by Guests of Honour, Italian acting legend Franco Nero and controversial cult director Ruggero Deodato.

Speaking of Deodato, Cine-Excess V will feature the world premiere of the director’s brand new edit of Cannibal Holocaust, to be released on DVD and Blu-ray by Shameless Screen Entertainment later this year.

For more info on Cine-Excess V, check out the blog!

OFFICIAL FORUMS @ CULT LABS

While Cult Labs is a forum in itself, many of you might not know that it also houses the official forums for various cult labels and titles! The first is the Shameless Official Fan Forum, home of Shameless Screen Entertainment. Similarly, there is the Arrow Video Official Forum, dedicated to Arrow Video. In terms of titles, we have The Twilight Zone: Official UK Forum, reserved for all things TZ, including the new DVD and Blu-ray releases. Last but not least, there is Prisoner Cell Block H: The Official UK DVD Forum, specially made for all your Prisoner fans out there.

So are you a massive fan of any of the above? Yes? Get over there then! Know anyone else who’s a fan of one (or more) of the above? Yep? Well send them over too!

THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON AT THE LABORATORY

The sun has gone back in now so I feel marginally better about being stuck in working. But only marginally… I henceforth decree that, as the Queen of Cult Labs it shall only be sunny when I am free to go outside! Think that’ll work? While the weather is obeying my will, I’ll catch you up on what’s caught my eye at the Labs this week.

More FULCI!

This post doesn’t need much explaining. Since Shameless are Fulci gods, it stands to reason that people want to see more Fulci from them! So head on over to this thread to see what Fulci films people would like to see and suggest your own!

Cult Labs Ultimate Twilight Zone Episode

We’re still looking for the ultimate Twilight Zone episode and are still only on Heat 1 so get watching your Season One DVD or Blu-ray and then have your say! Remember, if you don’t take part, you can’t complain if your favourite isn’t crowned! Ooooh… I sound just like I’m presenting X Factor!

The Doctor Who Thread

Well, with the new season well underway, what are your thoughts on this British sci-fi institution? How are you liking the Doctor and are there any faves amongst the new episodes? If your a Cult Labs Who fan, this is the place for you!

Demons 3 (the proper sequel!)

Lamberto Bava has announced that he is going to make a proper, official Demons 3. This, in my opinion, is the best news since they announced the maxi dress was back in fashion (hey, I can both geek out and look good…) and I am super excited about it! I love the Demons films and if I had my way we’d be up to Demons 512 by now…

If you’re heading over to the forums, be sure to check out the forum rules and pop into the new members thread to say hello if you haven’t already. If you ever feel intimidated by the behaviour of any Cult Labs members, tell one of the mods in strictest confidence: that’s me, Reaps, Stephen, Nos and bizarre_eye.

KYLE’S COMP CORNER

This week, the lovely Kyle is giving away the rather awesome Pandemic – a scary vision of Japan under threat from an unknown killer virus. To be in with a chance of winning, head on over to the Comp Corner now! Good luck…
