THIS WEEK @ CULT LABS: 3 JUNE 2011

MUG O’ COFFEE? CHECK!

Sticky toffee cupcake? Check! New Lady Gaga album blasting? Check! (Oh, come on, I’m a Gleek – it stands to reason I worship at the alter of Gaga too.) Seems to me like I’m ready to write myself a newsletter!

So what do I have for you this week? Well, first off, I need to let you know that Arachnid (Arrow Video: DVD) is out on Monday. Part of Arrow’s Fantastic Factory Presents… range, this is one not to be missed – especially by me and iluvdvds who both love all things with eight legs. And I think not! Also for you to peruse this week is news on the upcoming Twilight Zone Season 2 (can’t freakin’ wait!) and all the Cult Labs goodness you need to keep you going for another week. Enjoy…

COMING SOON FROM CULT LABS

So Season One is already out there to great applause but on 20 June 2011 you will also be able to own The Twilight Zone Season Two on DVD and Blu-ray (Shock Entertainment and FremantleMedia Enterprises).

This is a gorgeous set of classic episodes, with DVD & BD Review stating that they “look like they were shot yesterday.” You can read more on the official blog or get even more involved by heading over to the official UK forums!

Also coming soon from Cult Labs:

  • Exile (Fremantle Media Enterprises: DVD, 13 June 2011) – check out the official blog!

THERE’S SOMETHING GOING ON AT THE LABORATORY

Dammit! I’ve finished my cupcake. And my coffee. Ah, well, at least Gaga hasn’t deserted me! Oh, wait, album’s finished. Bum. Righty, I’d better go scavenge for more coffee and pop something else on my iPod. Thinking Fleetwood Mac… While I’m off sorting that, why don’t I fill you in on what’s caught my eye at the Labs this week?

SHAM032 – Almost Human: The Artwork

OK, so I haven’t revealed any further artwork but I have revealed a particularly juicy bit of gossip re: Almost Human which will have not one, not two, but three artwork options! Panel A you have already seen: the lenticular art card which can either slip under the plastic cover on the DVD box or be removed to stand alone. Underneath you will find a regular paper sleeve with Panel B on one side and Panel C on the other. I’m not revealing the artwork itself yet but keep your eyes on this thread for when it shows.

Shameless @ Cine Excess V

Cine Excess might be over for this year but if you managed to catch the censorship debate or the screening of Cannibal Holocaust we’d love to hear what you thought. Head on over to this thread to let us know!

Hatchet 2 – Official Announcement

Over the summer, Arrow Films will be releasing Adam Green’s rather brilliant Hatchet 2 on DVD and Blu-ray. A thread has been set up for you to chat about the film. Have you been lucky enough to see it already? If so, what say you? If you haven’t seen it, how psyched for it are you? Is it Blu-ray you be getting or DVD? No idea where the pirate-speak seems to have come from but let’s go with it…

Salon Kitty – Official Thread

Argent Film have released the director’s cut of Tinto Brass’s stunningly erotic Salon Kitty on Blu-ray and Cult Labs has the official thread. Head on over to find out more about the film and tell us what you think!

More sneaky gossip…?

A little bird just told me that the artwork for Arrow’s forthcoming DVD of Midnight will be designed by Jeff Zornow. He’s the guy who designed the Day of the Dead comic book don’tcha know…

If you’re heading over to the forums, be sure to check out the forum rules and pop into the new members thread to say hello if you haven’t already. If you ever feel intimidated by the behaviour of any Cult Labs members, tell one of the mods in strictest confidence: that’s me, Reaps, Stephen, Nos and bizarre_eye.

KYLE’S COMP CORNER

Well, I mentioned it only moments ago so if you fancy a chance of winning a copy of Salon Kitty in HEHD (Highly Erotic High Definition) you should head on over to the Comp Corner right now! Good luck…

BEST OF THE GRINDHOUSE PROJECT

If you haven’t see it on Cult Labs The GrindHouse Project is the place to find out about cult film screenings, festivals and societies in your local area. Below are BioZombie‘s favourite picks for the next week:

4 June 2011 KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE Prince Charles Cinema – London
Just the title itself should make every cult film fan want to see this bizarre piece of cinema.

4 June 2011 DUNE Everyman Screen On The Green – London
Derided on release, but then loved (at least by me) as a cult classic go see if you can work out what’s going on in David Lynch’s Dune.

9 June 2011 THE LOST BOYS Duke of York’s Picture House – Brighton
Sleep all day. Party All Night. It’s fun to be vampire… Need I say more?

Cult film demands to seen on the big screen with an appreciative audience, so head over to The GrindHouse Project and give in to that demand (or else).

GET INVOLVED WITH CULT LABS!

There are so many ways you can get involved with all the cult film fun at Cult Labs:
