THIS WEEK @ CULT LABS: 13 APR 2012

“NOT THE BEES! NOT THE BEES! AHH! MY EYES! MY EYES!”

Some truly beautiful words there that would make Shakespeare and Wordsworth collapse in awe. It’s Friday the 13th!  Don’t go outside! Lock the door, bolt the windows, stay away from mirrors and cover yourself in bubblewrap for who knows what bad luck today might bring. Anything could happen! What if, through the power of such previously undiscovered electromagnetic phenomena all your prized films have transmorphed into The Wicker Man remake. It’s possible! “My eyes! My eyeeeees!” In fact it’s an entirely plausable probability that all your DVDs and Blu-Rays have, at the exact time as you reading this, spawned into this hellish film. Go on, have a look, check just in case. I’ll wait for you.

If this has occured: We’re all doomed! Doomed, I tell you!

If this has not occured: Phew! What a relief! What better way to celebrate than with a burst of good news in the forum of this week’s cult-packed newsletter. Enjoy!

ALL THE BEST CULT RELEASES

The Wicker Tree

Thankfully, Robin Hardy’s new sequel of The Wicker Man is much better than the blasphemous Cage-ostrophic remake. With a very nice cameo from the ultimate Horror star, Sir. Christopher Lee, The Wicker Tree is a very fitting sequel to an undeniable cult classic. Harking back to the golden age of British Horror, the film manages to keep you on the edge of your seat through its tense mood and an ending truly goes out with a bang. If you are a fan of the original, this is a must see! Visit the official forum for all the details including specs, screenshots and much more.

Shameless Sexploitation

There’s only 2 more weeks left until the ultra sleazy yet beautifully stylish DVD box set is released unto the world, from the firey depths of exploitation Hell. Containing three sexy gems (Love Goddess Of The Cannibals, Satan’s Baby Doll and The Beast In Space) and housed in a truly magnificent VHS-inspired box this set is one to treasure (and keep hidden from any visiting family members)! This week over on the official forum there excited chatter hasn’t stopped! From new GIFs, screenshots and a thread dedicated entirely to the late great Joe D’Amato. Be sure to give it a visit! Although perhaps not whilst at work…

The Howling: Reborn

It’s out! The latest installment in the long running Howling series was released earlier this week. Giving the series a much needed fresh new approach, The Howling: Reborn is a must have for any lycanthrope fan looking to feast their fangs into a new juicy werewolf movie. It’s got everything you’d ever want from such a film and so much more. Well worth a check if you enjoy seeing these creatures of the night in action! Pick up yours on DVD or Blu-Ray here!

The Divide

Looking for something truly disturbing? A film that is designed to shock you to the core? Are you after a movie that will knock your socks off, tear out your nerves, give you nightmares for weeks and surprise your senses with scenes of horrid violence? Well, let me point you to Xavier ‘Frontier(s)‘ Gens latest offering, the brutal and mean The Divide. Starring Micheal Biehn, this film tells the tale of a group of survivors locked in a room safe from the apocalypse of mankind. Although with scenes of rape and brutal violence perhaps ‘safe’ isn’t quite the right word. Not one for the weak stomached, if you think you can handle this, head to the Fan Hub for all the details.

WIN! WIN! WIN! BECAUSE WE’RE GENEROUS LIKE THAT!

Fancy winning the highly offensive and very very rude new comedy from National Lampoon, Dirty Movie? Then here’s your chance! By entering the incredibly simple competition this week, you could be one of the three lucky winners to get your hands on this raunchy adults-only comedy. It’s a blast!

Also, don’t forget to enter the Extra competition we’re also running on the forum. Teaming up with Anchor Bay, we’re offering three people the chance to win a signed copy of the brand new action film, Switch. It could all be yours – just head here!

Well, that’s it for this week but remember there are so many ways you can get involved with all the cult film fun at Cult Labs:
