In Robin Hardy’s belated sequel to the classic 70s tale of naive Christianity in collision with old magic and secretive folk beliefs, a representative of today’s fundamentalist church (as opposed to Edward Woodward’s uptight old school temperance and virtue) is finally confronted with the pagan worship in all it’s semi-naked, body painted glory after a build up that showcases the true believers increasing unease with the perceived unholiness of her hosts.
