Good question…

The trouble with working with Hollywood types is, as a lowly PR droid, you are subject to the whims and egotistical demands of the ‘talent’. Between you and me, my colleagues and I are getting a little sick of Sharktopus’ constant requests from Brine Lattes and Fresh Sealions.

It’s not Sharktopus’ fault. He’s had fame thrust upon him because of his unique look (which Vogue and ID magazine have both declared ‘this summers hot trend’) and ability to kill bloodily on both land and sea. No wonder he’s having trouble adjusting. Still, when everyone finally sits down to watch the movie, all the 4am trips to the fish market and late night runs to find more tinned sardines will have been worth it. Sharktopus truly is ‘The Citizen Kane of Giant Aqua-Fiend movies’ and when next year’s Oscars come around, I can see Sharktopus dragging himself up to the stage on his eight tentacles to accept the award and maybe feast greedily on Billy Crystal’s face.

Now he’s broken into the world of serious acting, watch out for upcoming roles in the new underwater re-imaginging of To Kill A Mockingbird where he’ll be essaying the role of Atticus Finch and the all saltwater cast remake of Raging Bull.

Obsessive fans (and, since he’ll been featured in Tatler, OK and Heat, chewing up some of London’s hottest Actress/Singer/Model/Whatevers, he’s made quite a few…) can keep up with Sharktopus as he parties in the UK, enjoys his new found fame and visits the sites. Visit the official ‘WHERE’S SHARKTOPUS? FACEBOOK PAGE‘ for the latest pictures.

Who knows. we might get lucky and snap him tumbling out of Stringfellows at three in the morning with Katie Price’s thigh stuck in his teeth…

Eric Roberts (The Expendables; Heroes), Sara Malakul Lane (Belly Of The Beast) and US TV host and former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey head up the cast of Sharktopus, the latest sci-fi horror creature-feature from legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman and director Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead).

Roberts stars as Nathan Sands, an egotistical bio-genetics genius who, along with his daughter Nicole, has developed a hybrid half-shark/half-octopus for use by the US military. Code-named S11, the creature has been designed as the ultimate weapon in aquatic attack and defence. But when its control unit malfunctions during a test run, the S11 is accidentally unleashed and sets off in the direction of the popular tourist resort of Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.

Desperate to keep the creature’s existence secret and to avoid a bloody massacre that is almost certain to attract unwanted attention, the military leaders hire Sands, Nicole and a notorious shark hunter to track down and capture the mutant killing machine before it can begin snacking on a buffet of helpless holidaymakers. Unfortunately, the task becomes riskier and far more complicated than it needs to be when a morally bankrupt news reporter, her cameraman, a pirate-radio DJ and his unbelievably hot assistant become involved in the proceedings.

A hugely enjoyable, tongue-in-cheek monster romp packed with jaw-dropping set-pieces and plenty of inventive ways for humans to be dispatched by a great white shark endowed with massive spear-tipped tentacles, Sharktopus is definitely one of the must-see DVD releases of the year.
