I've got a copy of the laserdisc version too. I love the visuals and would by any DVD version of it so long as it's in its original aspect ratio. It really needs to be seen it all its widescreen glory.

Awesome film and awesome tangerine dream sound track!
I love the intro where the trucks roll in and of course the scene where the two soldiers run slow mo to the silver crosses!

A true lost classic!

Thief (Violent Streets) is another amazing Michael mann film with a tangerine dream sound track, (i cant express how good this film actually is!)

Absolutely agree.
And the original CIC UK artwork was amazing!

What's the odds on a major coup on this one Almar?

A major coup, indeed, would be the release of The Keep by Arrow, especially if it contained restored elements that were cut by Paramount for the original release.

In the meantime, I always liked this fan made trailer for it. This does not even have music from the film but instead largely relies on an Enigma piece which is surprisingly effective...

Agreed! Another one is Friedkin's Sorcerer. Miracle Mile is pretty good too.

Miracle Mile is an excellent film with a fantastic soundtrack.

This is another film deserving of a special edition release as it's only available on a pan & scan, extras free, now deleted US dvd

Sky HD have broadcast this film a number of times recently. It is the 93 min version. I've heard various rumours why this hasn't been released, ranging from rights issues over the music (didn't stop HMV selling a new VHS version a few short years ago exclusively); Michael Mann's disatisfaction with the film and/or his desire to see a restored release.

I have the LD somewhere, but the Sky broadcast was very welcome. Watch out for it coming around again -- at least until a disc is (ever) released.

You have got to wonder just how much of this footage is usable and what can actually be restored. The film was incomplete when Mann got fired by Paramount and SFX were still not finished for various scenes...
