I'm not totally up-to-date when it comes to shooting a movie, but I guess it's easier to "preview" certain digital effects when you shoot a flick digitally. But that's just speculation on my part.

Exactly. The all complain about the silly dialogues of DP - they aren't silly at all, if you're into movies and if you like it when a director reflects on cinema (because that's exactly what Tarantino does all the time)!

I think the dialogue in Death Proof comes off really bad, and I'm going to come off sounding sexist, but to me, it's because it's females saying it. Tarantino may write good scenes, but it just doesn't seem right coming out of a females mouth. Just something off about it. Imagine the opening scene of Reservoir Dogs with females instead of males. Just wouldn't work.

It's the thing that Mark Kermode often comments on, that whenever Tarantino writes characters they all just sound a bit like him. I do agree with this in a way but it does nothing to spoil my enjoyment of any of his films.

I said this exact same thing to my brother in law yesterday because he hasn't seen either and was asking my opinion.

Of the two Planet Terror is my Favorite.

I have only watched the Death Proof DVD once when I first bought it but I have watched Planet Terror a few times and I enjoy it more with each viewing.

I like QT's movies but Death Proof is my least favorite of his films.
