Satan's Sadists

A perverse thrill can sometimes be gotten from wallowing in the last gasps of a once successful actors career. Think of Molly Ringwald, once a part of Pretty in Pink and heading for glory before crashing in the 90s and ending up in the terrible Aussie slasher movie "Cut".

And so to Russ Tamblyn, once riding high on the success of West Side Story, before Hollywood's excesses saw him plummet to earth, leaving him starring in Al Adamson trashfests like Dracula Vs Frankenstein and this biker exploitation masterpiece, Satan's Sadists.

A group of travellers at a road-side diner are harassed by Anchor (Tamblyn) and his gang of biking deviants. In a riot of violence the gang murder all but two of the people in the restaurant, leaving one couple to flee into the desert with the dangerous gang in hot pursuit, looking for any kind of vile kick they can get...

This is pure, rough exploitation from start to finish, as the leering biker freaks rape and terrorize. It's a battle between decent society and the scummy dregs and was purpose built to pray on the fears of its audience. Being a late 60s American film, there's plenty of allusions to free love and LSD, a night time drug orgy and plenty of far out music to enjoy as well. Undemanding movie freaks with a liking for the sleazier end of the drive-in experience will enjoy this movie, despite a slight tendency to ramble.

It's an entertaining piece of grim grind house from a legendary B movie producer.
