Starburst (Excellent in the old days when it featured the great horror releases of the 1980s plus a Zombie issue)
Video Watchdog
I've no room in the house to keep them so they are bagged & boxed SOB !
I have the first issue of the Hammer Horror mag, as you rightly say it was excellent. Has a feature on every horror they released. I used it as a check list for my vhs buying.

Scream was a great comic for the few months it ran, free Dracula fangs with issue one.

The mag's I have are:

Dark Side
DVD World
Video World
Flesh & Blood
Giallo Pages
Shivers
Fangoria
Rue Morgue
Video Watchdog
Scream
Gorezone (the shit one)
and one issue of Diabolik.

Used to have loads of mainstream mags like Total Film and DVD Review but I used ended up using them as toilet paper. Never been a fan of stuff like 2000AD.

I used to really like Shivers.

It was all a bit X-Files / Buffy for quite a while, but they had to sell mags and they were horror themed shows which were hugely popular.

They always seemed to use large quality photographs though, which i like rather than the often poor scans other mags used, and had quality writers.

I'm guessing WHSmiths didn't think much of the cover this month, as they seemed to bag it with a white bit of cardboard covering most of the magazine.

I think it might be down to the fact that it says "Rape and Revenge" halfway down on the left side.

I figured seeing as my piece of card had slid up and the severed head was happily dangling out the bottom in plain view.

My Girlfriend pointed out that worse things are printed on Women's Weekly's half the time.

My issue is still sealed and until now i thought the white inlay was some sort of fold-out poster!

That's what i like to see. A nice 'n' nasty eye-catching cover causing controversy amongst all the sickeningly squeamish do-gooders!

It is nice to see a mag like The Dark Side being sold in W.H SMiths, though I usually try and buy it from the indie news agent up the road. They are less bothered about hiding it and upsetting the Caravan Monthly readers

Default Dark side magazine

I remember the news years ago when WHS had stopped selling girlie mags

but they are still selling (and no way am I against these!!) LOADED, NUTS, ZOO etc and of course these have nothing compared to PENTHOUSE et al

but they still sell BIZARRE which show self mutilation, car crashes, S&M etc and these topics are advertised on the covers

and they are offended by the cover of THE DARK SIDE?

They have sold FANGORIA and they have covers of gory images of demons etc

WHS are just hypocrites and its all double standards with them, an establishment full of overpaid PC business people

WHS the store that refused to stock evil dead on vhs or dvd...

Never mind the mags like bizarre of loaded have you SEEN those womens real life story magazines, chock full of rape, muder and incest stories. In many ways so much worse than mags like dark side which are devoted to fictional horror and sci-fi!
