I've finally cloned my hard drive today and it went well and smoothly (took about 10 mins with WD Acronis software).

I am now wondering if I need to align my drive?

It's a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III (WD5000AAKX)
It's not supposed to be an advanced format drive but I'm not certain...the WD alignment software from their site tells me everything's aligned and the drive is not advanced format...

However I read this:

How to: Properly re-align your SSD/HDD partitions

Ran AS SSD and got bad (something with K4 and that's what pointed me to advanced format drive)...

Can anyone please help before I do all the things described in the article...

Btw the cloning software had a step that asked me to check the label to see if it was advanced format but there was nothing on it..

I suppose it had cloned it differently if I had chosen advanced format?

Fixed!

Used the free Partition Wizard Mini-Tool.

Align All Partitions ? MiniTool Partition Wizard help.

Now I get an OK in the benchmark test from AS SSD!

Noticed that in the Windows Experience Index my hard drive went from 5,7 to 5.9...so guess this hdd is a bit better.

Had to clone my drive again (luckily I still had my old one) because of a Windows update I did last week that killed my Windows setup...luckily everything is back to normal now.

I also got a "new" 20" 16:9 monitor (Dell 2009WT) for 10 Euro at work.
Decided to celebrate with a Windows 7 wallpaper.

Ever since a recent automatic official Windows 7 and Internet Explorer update, I get disconnected from this forum, Facebook, ...

I write a post, I click on "Submit Reply", bang! - "You're not logged in" or something like that... I'm browsing the different threads for a few minutes, bang! - again.

Any ideas?

Greetings!

One option would be to clear your internet cache and delete your cookies then log back in, as that will probably sort it. If not, it could be that the update effected your firewall or network settings somehow (but I'm guessing here).

Another piece of advice: Stay away from Internet Explorer, it's shit!
