When I was on my honeymoon in Hong Kong I went to the Chungking mansions, sadly neither Faye Wong or Brigiitte Lin were there. Don't tell my wife that's why I wanted to go there.

Well done for finding them other Bronson films Reaps, shame about the abysmal art :p I've got CITTA VIOLENTA. Its actually pretty cool looking thing. Its not in the standard blu ray case at all (see the pic) although it is the same size. And the PQ quality its leaps and bound above any other version of the film. I'd highly recommend it.

Looks like the boxes Criterion uses for its Blu-rays.

Ah OK that's interesting! I don't own any Criterion films so didn't realise that.

They're clear and do not have the panel along the top where the Blu-ray logo sits, sleeves run the full height of the box, just like a DVD ;)

Hopefully that will become the standard once the companies believe the public can be trusted to tell the difference 'tween formats . . .

Paul@TheOverlook 22nd December 2011 09:07 AM

Will that ever happen? I'm really unsure of that. Criterion discs carry a premium price and are aimed at the collectors' market. I imagine doing away with bespoke blue boxes would become a retail nightmare!

Like Paul said, I don't see the Criterion-type cases becoming the norm as DVD is still a viable format with plenty going for it and will coexist with Blu-ray for (I guess) a decade or maybe more. Besides, I quite like the blue (or yellow, green or blue) cases and would hate it if they all changed for a 'mini DVD' case.

Nah, not so keen on the idiot-proofed Blue Blu cases myself, the clear BFI ones are much neater  . . .
