stendahl syndrome starts well enough but then argento runs out of plot at less than an hour in and starts making s**t up as he goes along. I own the film as a completist, and the first 40-50 minutes are fine, its just everything after that is like a film made by some hack keen on imitating argento without knowing what made his classic movies so good.

Still stendahl is better than giallo, a film so bad it makes michael bays movies seem like classics, an utter turd Personally if i was argento i'd steal the negative and burn it!


On a lighter note, just watched WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN. Tough going to say the least but certainly miles ahead of overrated movies like elephant as a portrayal of a teenage psychopath. One i'd reccomend watching on netflix or renting rather than rushing to buy however, I suspect this will split its audience down the middle.

You only have to read the thread on bluray.com about Blue Underground to see the many, many comments by people saying these films shouldn't grace the format and that they couldn't possibly offer any upgrade over the DVDs. Because, well, you know they're old films and they can't possibly look good in HD. Agree with that too? No, of course not. But your comments about how some films should remain DVD-only is the thin end of that wedge. You're only a step away from what these people are saying about BU and the like.

no i'm not! I just think, given the expense and some of the catastrophic failiures we've seen with certain cult movies, it would be worth holding back on blu-ray releases for films unless the format can really do the film justice. I never once said that films should be topped from being put on blu-ray based on the quality of the film itself, thats far too subjective!
