Amazon, but to be fair to them, I cancelled it then re-ordered due to fiscal miscalculation on my part. Though for once it turned out I had MORE money available than I thought!

Thanks for the Planet Axel tip fellas. Never even visited their site before

Just got a Criterion double whammy of Naked Kiss and Phantom Carriage. Also just checked out the Criterion site and found out they are about to release Harold and Maude ! FINALLY! A decent release  . . .

From Njutafilms :)

I also watched a little on the DVD and it has english subtitles where non-english is spoken even if the specs only mentions nordic ones.

May's arrivals:

Gojirosan 31st May 2012 05:29 PM

DAMN IT! I keep forgetting about Ganja & Hess and Murder Obsession!

My Axel order today:

Daemonia 31st May 2012 05:33 PM

I pre-oredered this back in April, as I didn't want to miss out. There's still no sign of a regular, unlimited edition on BD here in the UK, only the limited edition steelbook. So this might actually be a case of when they're gone, they're gone. And I didn't want to miss owning this on BD - especially considering it contains the original audio track as an option.

Demdike@Cult Labs 31st May 2012 06:16 PM

just going back a few posts -

I too have never had any problems with vacuum packaging. Its odd because they seem pathetic really, however the discs never seem to be loose nor the cases crushed. The same cannot be said for bubblewrap packets.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 31st May 2012 06:28 PM

My Steelbook of The Return of the Living Dead arrived today from HMV not, as I thought, from The Hut – that's where I ordered The Artist with a 10% off voucher.

Excellent! I'm watching the More Brains documentary just now. Great to see Thom Matthews.

Mine is still in the shrinkwrap! I'll probably watch it at the weekend and the More Brains documentary straight after.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 31st May 2012 06:41 PM

Gah! Mine was only dispatched from Amazon today. :(

I'm also still waiting on Nightbirds arriving, and Demons only arrived yesterday! :mmph:

Watching Return Of The Living Dead now. It looks gorgeous. Some may not like it though, it's pretty grainy. But that's the sign of a good transfer.

For my money ROTLD blu looks the dogs b*****S! Very happy with the product.

ISLAND OF LOST SOULS looks as good as its ever going to, certainly looks fuzzy in places, but given the films history were lucky to be seeing it at all. Given Eureakas track record this is probably as good as we'll ever get it. The steelbook itself is a thing of beauty.

tommorrow i'll be having the DAVID LYNCH boxset and probably House by the cemetary as well.

Criterion7 1st June 2012 03:18 AM

After throughly enjoying The Daemons I picked this up at HMV tonight.

BIRTHDAY!!

So it was my 15th birthday on May 28, and i got all sorts of cool stuff! :woot:
I was meant to post this on Monday or Tuesday, but im slow and school and stuff...
Akira, Forbidden Zone, CSPWDT + DON and Negima 34 rocked up on Tuesday, and I'm still waiting for Demons 1, 2, ROTLD Steelbook and House By The Cemetery.
With my luck, I get Zombie and Halloween 2, and they get announced again in the next week!!

Some comments on the ones I've watched:
Dark Knight Of The Scarecrow: Superb film & Blu Ray, Highly Recommended
Forbidden Zone: Bat shit insane & Hilarious, great feature and the quality was pretty good to me. :pound:
Zombie: Holy crap that was awesome, with a pretty good Blu Ray

Fun fact about my birthday: While not the same date, I was born around the same Worldwide time as Peter Cushing, Vincent Price & Christopher Lee!! :pop2:

Demoncrat 1st June 2012 10:26 AM

found All The Colors of the Dark on amazon, so that's been ordered, along with a certain xmas present.......

Sssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh!!

Have ordered the Arrowdrome one, as mate not that bothered about "features", shame as the SS comm with Mr G is quite illuminating regarding the films history/production etc.

I am most impressed with the way you managed to sneak that information into your post, so that we will all know (and remember) for next year!

ordered the david lynch blu-ray boxset from ZAAVI for a good cashback deal, so I probably won't be seeing that posted by their lazy asses for another week or so. On the plus side, Amazon shipped my ltd edition ARROW release of house by the cemetary this afternoon, not long after ordering so well done them!

Just so everyone knows, the original un-altered soundtrack on the Return Of The Living Dead blu-ray, is only on the Mono track. It was a while before I realized this!
