A very good point you make, J.

Stephen likes The Goonies so definitely can't be trusted. ;)

Which is the best version?

Subjective, but I like the silent 1927 original the best.

I also really rate Metzger's 1979 version.

I hear Harker's a massive Lost Boys fan though. ;)

So that's The Goonies and The Lost Boys come into a discussion regarding the merits of The Babadook. It has no chance. :tsk:

It was in your list of underrated horror.

Yes it is - a lot of people don't seem to have seen that particular version, which is a shame.

The only one I own is the 1927 original, and I don't think I've seen the others.

I think the mixed reactions mean you need to re-shuffle it back near the top of the pile now Dem. I for one would be interested in hearing what you make of it. We all like/dislike different things after all, even if we do have similar tastes.

Perhaps in a few weeks time when i've forgotten this conversation.

I'd have preconceptions of an annoying brat if i went into it tonight.

When I saw it in the cinema, I didn't think it would be considered a 'Marmite film', but that's the impression I'm picking up from the posts here. It would be interesting to see whether Demdike loves it or hates it.
