Makes a change! Half their remasters are bathed in DNR. But you're right, i've had a look and it's a great transfer.

Watched the prowler from BU last night. Hadn't seen it in awhile. Still holds up well. Some of the musical stings reminded a lot of the first alien movie! Never noticed that before.

Why's that? Can't really say it bothers me. Pretty sure all the Warner discs do it but they default to the superior surround format, Nos.

I don't mind discs which autoplay, but the ones which bug me are those which have Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio, with the DD as the primary audio option so you have to manually change to the HD soundtrack.

Sorry about this Stephen, but my Terminator Steelbook arrived from Play.com in one of those big padded boxes without a single scratch or dent. Looks much better than I expected as well.

That's the thing, the scratch has been done before the steelbook was shrinkwrapped. That's even worse in my eyes! But as I said, a black marker dabbed on the scratch, a little rub to remove excess ink, and it's a lot better looking. Besides, I'm not getting another unless I fork out a small fortune, so I can live with it (this time).

Besides A BITTERSWEET LIFE & THE RING, I think the most entertaining and spectacular horror/crime drama on the Tartan Asia Extreme label is a film called TELL ME SOMETHING... It was like CSI mixed with SE7EN on acid :p

ArgentoFan1987 29th September 2012 11:34 AM

I recent watched I Saw the Devil. Beat film I've seen this year so far!!!

Plus I have so many DVDs, that if I posted photos of them all,I'd end up banned from these forums for annoyance.

Yes its the right one - I have a question? How long do you have to own a dvd or blu from day 1 of buying until you consider it an old dvd or blu in your collection?

Ordered Thursday evening off Nigel Wingrove, turned up this morning. Nice!

Not sat and watched it, (seen it before quite a few times and I have a rented box-set of Boardwalk empire to watch) But I did stick it on to check it out.

Looks great, no Dnr great colours and clear signs of natural grain. Soundtrack is a little crackly throughout but I had that with all the bava dvd's as well.

Finally managed to find Detention on Blu-Ray (been searching the local shops since it was released on Thursday).

Slippery Jack 29th September 2012 02:10 PM

I've got a $50 amazon.com voucher, but whenever I find something I like, I find I can get it way cheaper on amazon.co.uk once the p&p is taken into account - I wanna get the most out of my voucher, not waste it on postage! Was gonna get the Twins of Evil Blu, but with postage its about 4/5 quid cheaper to get it on .co.uk. So if anyone can point me in the direction of some top amazon.com bargain recommends, I'd be mucho grateful  . . .

Stephen@Cult Labs 29th September 2012 02:11 PM

Ordered the new Scorpion Savage Streets dvd. It'll sit nicely with my Arrow, BCI, and AWE discs.

Ordered a couple of BD's from Amazon. Hard To Kill and Next Of Kin. I love they way Amazon charges £20 each for these, and the marketplace sellers are half that price!

I think it can also be down to the individual. If a person buys say just two or three new DVDs a year (not that such a person would exist here!) then whatever they bought that year would be considered new.

Now take the average person here buying new stuff nearly every week, I think in that case it would only apply to what has arrived that day! :tongue1:
